This Was Actually The NY Times Homepage Just Now (PICTURE)

The Huffington Post   First Posted: 11/10/10 04:45 PM ET Updated: 05/25/11 07:10 PM ET

You probably already know that we love Joe Biden. From his "big f***ing deals" to his crazy looks, our Vice President is always entertaining us. That's why we were surprised to see him front and center on the New York Times' homepage just now, or at least what looks like a shirtless Biden standing next to a muscle car. The still is actually from a really hilarious story in The Onion, but that doesn't stop seeing "Spring Break" Biden next to a somber headline about spending cuts on the front of The New York Times from being really hilarious. In case you missed it, here was Biden in all his glory:

Actually Biden is in better shape then the body double who posed for this. He still works out and his gut isn't that big. Funny though. But Biden still has it. Even at his age! He has to keep up with his wife- who still runs 5 miles a day.

I can't recall a VP that would have laughed at that (well maybe Al Gore) except for Joe Biden. That parody was, and is, hilarious.

I don't know how I feel about the NYT running this photo - but I am enjoying the photo and don't know if I would have encountered it had it stayed as an Onion story only.

I love Joe Biden. I think he has the sense of humor to be a vice-dude once in a while. To me, a photo spoof can not take away from his years of service to out gov't or his gravity in the area of foreign policy.

In the Onion, parody is expected. On NYT this is dispicable and a total disrespect to the office of the vice presidency as well as our U.S. Vice President himself.

To HP and Katla McGlynn, it is of no surprise that you find this worthy of your blogtrash. Perhaps it is either time you grow up or position yourselves as exactly what you have become. I let you choose the appropriate label.

I agree putting the article about the Onion front and center was in poor taste, but Huffpo's reporting on it was to be expected since it certainly is news when a paper as prominent as the New York Times puts an article and photo about/from the Onion on the cover!

I'm a Biden fan, but funny is funny and props to the Onion for being noticed by the Times.

Let me guess, Biden is being set up to be dumped from the ticket in 2012.

Had I seen it on the Onion, I would have thought it was funny. On the NYT, well, that's not funny. It's grounds to fire the dufus who OKed it. Sorry, but Photoshop editing has no place on the cover of any respectable newspaper.

I guess the NYT is not a respectable newspaper anymore. They've got to get themselves electronic before they make total fools of themselves.

Vice President Joe Biden is certainly not a sour-faced, hard right politician. Those negative nabobs see the world as going to hell in a hand basket and who wouldn't know a constructive policy alternative it it bit them in the butt. Biden at least has a sense of humor and occasionally draws out humor among his critics. In controversial issues, its usually the guy with the best sense of humor that proves to be the most persuasive. He answers caustic remarks in an affable style. I don't see that in the GOP true believer hard right.

"Negative nabobs" was borrowed from Spiro Agnew with creative license. Perhaps my meaning has been missed. Spiro Agnew was Nixon's VP and Joe Biden is Obama's VP. The comparison ends there, however. The two personalities differ widely in character. My point was Biden's style is more likely to be persuasive than is the style of the GOP hard right. That's my biased opinion. But, whether you agree or disagree, I don't think "cool" fits my comment.

Sweet ride. What happened to Amtrak?
12:36 AM on 11/11/2010
In the Onion, this is very funny.

On the "front page" of the online New York Times, this is an outrage and a slap in the face to a sitting Vice President. I cannot imagine that any "editor" that would allow this, even for a second, should not be fired for cause.

What has happened to civil respect in this country??
01:00 AM on 11/11/2010
yet Biden of all people would take it in stride I think just because he's pretty easygoing.
