Hatsune Miku: Japanese HOLOGRAPH Plays Sold Out Concerts; Science Fiction Comes To Life (VIDEO)

In what is surely a terrible omen not only for musicians but also the continued existence of the world as we know it, holographs are now playing sold out concerts in, where else, Japan.

Holographic idol Hatsune Miku is the creation of the group Crypton Future Media, using software from Vocaloid, and the group has put the avatar on tour with a live band. The sight of thousands of screaming fans waving glow sticks while the the holograph "performs" on stage is straight out of a science fiction novel.

The avatar is huge and incredibly realistic. Check out "her" concert performance below. More videos can be found here.

I don't get it...
If I wanted to see a 3-D cartoon wouldn't I just turn on the TV?

I guess it's kind of impressive. Good luck having sex with her.

Good luck having sex with real famous musicians too....
I think your chances with Miku are better.

Actually, the chances of my having sex with "real famous musicians" are undoubtedly greater than my chances with a hologram. Dig?
06:56 PM on 11/24/2010
This isn't a hologram. It's a green-screen projection on a translucent barrel vault over the stage.
You can see the real wrinkles in the animatronic actors leg stockings, same as Polar Express.

An Iranian-American scientist at a US university has invented infinitely scaleable 3D holographs,
yielding the possibility for a Ghost Busters-sized Obama towering over the WA DC mall in 2012.

No doubt ZinoPNAC lobby in Alexandria will find this an 'Islamic Jihad' threat, and shut it down.
Only PM Benjamin Netanyahu has the privilege of being larger than life poly-dimensional actor.

I could see it now. Two hundred years from now, an old guy sitting in a wheelchair - about to die - surrounded by avatars and robots. Caption reads, " The last living human Japanese". Sad.

Why I love living here. We do lead the way in weirdness.

Now if the music didn't suck so much.
04:01 PM on 11/20/2010
Yeah. Too bad those Japanese don't listen to musical Geniuses like Eminem or Tupac.

I immediately thought of them. Do they do holograms?
08:19 PM on 11/22/2010
Yes, they do. They even incorporated Madonna into the Act as herself (live) not a hologram.
