The vertiginous shoe -- due to be released next year -- will come in sparkly red or gold and retail for less than $100, according to the paper.

Why not prettily painted stilts with a toe you can step into?

I can hear my ankles crying for mercy just from looking at those things.

I just got my new Prevention magazine which recommends a rule of three for high heels; no more than 3 inches, wear them no longer than three hours; and wear a variety of at least three different heels in one week's time. Practical advice.

Why do you ladies do this to yourselves? Ive never understood heals at all. You paint on faces, you starve yourselves, and you wear the most insanely uncomfortable clothing. Do not missunderstand me you are gorgeous, but ladies you are doing this to each other. You are doing it to compete with one another. As a guy lemme tell ya...were not worth it. Give me a woman with fire inside, wrinkles, muddy brown hair, who wears comfortable clothes. Give me a Rachel Maddow......damn lesbianism!!!!! All I want from you is to devour life. My wife and I's favorite thing this time of year is homemade pumpkin butter we make out of the left over halloween pumpkins. Tastes like creamy pumpkin pie filling. My wife makes home made bread, we slather it with butter and pumpkin butter, and chase it down with mugs of coffee from the french press. We lay up in bed all morning Sundays watching the political shows, eating our goodys and cuddling. Make up and nine inch heals have NOTHING to do with this.....its one of our best times.

I agree with your post entirely. However, heals do have a place. In my opinion, they should never leave the bedroom.

Ok ladies. Here's the deal. Wear 4 - 9 inch heels everyday or even 3 or 4 times a week and you can look forward to knee replacements, hip replacements and foot surgery. Have fun.

Aren't the McQueen heels that Lady Gaga wears all the time 12 inches? They would be insane to try and walk in!

IMO, any heel over 6 inches is way too high. I'd rather be short than to put my safety at risk, LOL!

Didn't Gaga also do a couple of face plants in those shoes too? I remember seeing a youtube of this.

I remember seeing pictures of her falling at an airport in these crazy heel-less shoes, LOL. If there were heels attached, they probably would have been at least 12 inches high.

Holy moly! NINE INCHES? Hey...I'm about 5'2" without shoes. I'd be 5'11" with the shoes...not that I'd wear them...they sound dangerous.

Ladies, we have to stop becoming fashion "victims" for these mostly male designers who are in no uncertain terms, killing us! What's next, as they continue to "build" them up higher and higher, like a Manhattan sky-scraper? What else is left that they can do to a woman's shoe? What's worse is our self-esteem level, that we feel we must wear anything to "fit in" or be hip, on to what's going on, and to be a part of the inner circle and with no thought to what may look best on our body, shape and size. Also, short women may not necessarily look their best in a stiletto, although so many wear them for height. Enough already! There's a serious accident waiting to happen.
