Todd Haley Doesn't Shake Josh McDaniels's Hand After Broncos' Win Over Chiefs (VIDEO)

First Posted: 11/14/10 10:01 PM ET Updated: 05/25/11 07:10 PM ET

Nobody expected Kansas City Chiefs head coach Todd Haley to be in a good mood following his team's 49-29 dismantling at the hands of the Denver Broncos. Still, the second-year head coach turned heads when he apparently refused to shake the hand of Broncos Coach Josh McDaniels after the game.

Video tweeted by the Mile High Report shortly after the game showed McDaniels extending his hand to Haley, who responded by pointing a finger and saying a few words back to the second-year Broncos coach. McDaniels then appeared to walk away angrily.

Asked about the exchange after the game by the Kansas City Star, Haley said it was a private moment, and declined to discuss the issue further.

KC is acting like Dem. in this midterm election. They blame everyone for their loss except themselves.

Haley apologized, publicly. Time to move on. Nothing to see here. Speculation is that the Broncos sideline was taunting the Chiefs players during the game when the points gap was climbing. This is not an excuse, the other team can celebrate any way they want. You need to congratulate them, and then tell them, we will get you next time.

NFL should fine the KC coach for unsportsmanlike conduct - the league is already suffering from lots of bad press (read this as unfriendly to American families and kids) - time to man up Commissioner and fine this jerk !!

It wasn't a case of running up the score, which I believe is o.k. by the way. When you play teams that are better, they don't benefit from the win (other than stats), but you benefit from the loss (other than the stats). I didn't see the game, were there any cheap shots? If so, he's got a point. If not, what a punk for a coach. You shake no matter what - except for dirty play!

I didn't watch the game but 49-29 isn't even close to the worst loss I've seen. If you put 29 on the board, you are at least doing something right, even if allowing 49 means your defense needs some work.

Even more so, look at the box score of this game, the Broncos scored 35 points in the first half, and then 14 points in the second half. No team is going to let up the gas in the first half.

Denver wasn't running up the score here, they just scored a lot early.

Todd Haley, worst strategist/coach ever...gets upset because his team got blown out. BooHoo. Learn how to coach a football team if you don't want to lose. You can't always depend on your players to plan a game for you.

How exactly does one have a "private moment" in front of thousands of fans and a national TV audience?

If he didn't like the score maybe his team should have stopped them from scoring said points. It's a little childish for blaming the other team for scoring points. This is more of the pussification of America in my opinion. Pretty soon they won't be keeping score in the NFL, and everyone will get a participation trophy at the end of the year.

Pussification ?
You mean like when righties whine about other peoples whining ?
