Allen West Defends Choosing Controversial Radio Host Joyce Kaufman As Chief Of Staff

Allen West Joyce Kaufman Chief Of Staff

Tea Party-backed Congressman-elect Allen West (R-Fla.) broke his silence over a controversial chief of staff pick this weekend, aggressively defending his selection of radio show host Joyce Kaufman despite the fact that the decision failed to come to fruition.

Here's CNN's report on their discussion with West:

"I was not hiring a talk radio host; I was hiring a very brilliant political mind, someone that has been in South Florida politics for 20 plus years. But unfortunately the liberal left showed that I guess they are threatened and intimidated by me, and so they went into the attack dog mode, which is something that they did the entire time in our campaign," West told CNN Sunday in an interview at a downtown hotel where incoming freshmen were gathering for orientation.

Reports by the "attack dog" media turned up numerous incidents in which Kaufman had spoken with incendiary rhetoric against illegal immigrants and Muslims. Soon after the reports, she turned down West's chief of staff offer.

According to one such glance back at her past of public speaking, Kaufman reportedly said: "If you commit a crime while you're here, we should hang you and send your body back to where you came from, and your family should pay for it."

Oddly enough, West seemed to contend that the examination of Kaufman's past of extreme speech was a sign that liberals had "issues with racism" against him.

"I think the American people are sick of, and that despicable, disgusting action and the way that they went after Joyce Kaufman shows that not only this liberal left has some issues with racism," West told CNN. "I guarantee you, if I was a black Democratic Congressman-elect, they would not be doing these type of actions, and the fact that they're attacking a woman like this, that shows me something about sexism and misogynist behavior."

Kaufman reportedly addressed the incident herself over the weekend, as well. This from the Broward Palm Beach New Times.

"This is not about me," she said of the threats. "This is the first attack on this man [Allen West]." She called the incident, "an attempt to try to make us look bad," adding, "We didn't fall into the trap!" She said she is remembering the individuals who have "demonized" her in the last few days, the columnists, the bloggers, and that she will call them out by name soon. She said she's already received an offer to write a book about her ordeal.

Why is race used as a screen so often by black republican'ts? If he were a white republican't male or female his bragging about his refusal to learn from experience would be just as appaling. As would her seditious rhetoric.

Brilliant?....Please! Joyce Kaufman spouted a list of incendiary racist remarks. She has no place in government. She can rant all she wants on radio.

These people have the Cartman (on South Park) complex. After they're called out on their ludicrous comments and behaviour, they respond with faux, manufactured outrage and victimology. This isn't the last we'll hear of this ludicrous man and his charges of racism. Like the rest of his political brethren, he has a thin skin, and a feeble mind.

So if his 'pick' was so great, why didn't he stick up for her, fight the 'bad press' and try to talk her into taking the position? Because he knew neither he nor she would be able to take the heat regarding her despicable comments. Brilliant political mind? Gimme just a small break!

Conservatives never eally "learn" anything. They're only programmed to repeat and act on what their masters instruct them to do

This pretty thoroughly demonstrates that the 'progressive's claim about being against racism are just for the purpose of keeping the African-American vote for the dems.

Do you really believe that two words would have been printed about this if Charlie Rangel had hired this woman as his chief of staff?
10:17 PM on 01/03/2011
Absolutely. You obviously don't read much, do you. The left is much more willing to criticize those who make mistakes---unlike the rightwing, which just rallies behind their "leaders" and blindly accuses ANY critical thinking of being "terrorist"...........

Believe me, West wanted to get elected soooo bad, he took up with this shameful person.Once all the nuts are cracked out of the political fray, he'll change his mind and apologize for his first choice and denounce the tea party.

A brillant political mind? "If ballots don't work, bullets will", illegal aliens who commit crimes "should be hanged and their bodies sent home with the families paying the bill"

Brilliant? Not so much. Sick? that's more like it.

This man is a result of how successful brainwashing can be. There was a better job done on him the Thomas or Steele. His masters will be proud.

That is a blatantly racist comment that should not be tolerated.

"...if I were a black Democratic Congressman-elect, they would not be doing these type of actions." Hmmmm....and you say that proves racism? Seems to me you just made the opposite case. You just made the case that it's because you're a repub and not a dem. That's called opposing your POLITICAL views. Does this guy know what racism is?

I'm a hook you up Seriously Mr. West, with an excellent speaker, educated, the head or member of numerous organizations (some historical), he has political clout, and he's extremely conservative, States Rights and What not,...

I hereby nominate (per your seemingly narrow criteria) David Duke to be your Chief of Staff.

If I was Angela West I would be wondering just exactly what IS the relationship between West and Kaufman. The vehemence that oozes from his every pore with regard to criticisim about Kaufman is startling.

"I was hiring a brilliant political mind" - um, no. A brilliant mind does not threaten to overthrow a duly elected government simply because she did not like the results.
