An "@facebook.com" email address could be yours soon.

The blogosphere is buzzing with speculation that Facebook will unveil an email service at an Facebook event scheduled to take place November 15 at 10AM PT.

TechCrunch wrote last week that anonymous sources suggested that the social network was preparing a "web-based email client that we hear is unofficially referred to internally as its 'Gmail killer.'"

Inside Facebook said the rumored email service was dubbed "Project Titan" by Facebook employees and speculates the social network could "be giving users an @facebook.com email address to which email could be sent and read within the messages product, as well as POP and IMAP support for reading your Facebook inbox from other email clients."

AOL went on the offensive ahead of Facebook's Monday press conference, opening up its new, revamped email service, code-named Project Phoenix (Learn more here).

Listen Zuckertwerp - you're not Steve Jobs, and I'll put a fork in a toaster before I put any email I care about in your company's hands

Any idea anyone how much they paid to the Farm Bureau for fb.com? I bet a fortune. Like they said in The Social Network, "in the grand scheme of things, consider it a speeding ticket"

Yes, I would use a facebook email, but it's not a gmail killer since i won't use it as my official email simply because I won't want employers, or in some cases colleagues to find me on FB. FB is my personal space for me and my friends and there is stuff in there I wouldn't want to share with those people.

Facebook is shallow and for the self-serving. It is for men who like variation and ego boosts and aggressive (crazy drama) Bachelor watching women. People are so empty that that literally go on Facebook to steal a.k.a "get to know", peoples husbands and wives. Facebook is lame! Sick of friends taking pictures for their Facebook Accounts, when yo are trying to chill!

What do these kids really think? Do they expect me to throw away my privacy, so a twenty something years old kid gets rich?

If they do release an email service, it would definitly kill GMail just with the sheer numbers of people that would use it because "everyone is using it".

I doubt it. I don't know many people who want all there information and communications controlled by one source. And considering Facebook's opinions on privacy, I definitely don't want them controlling all my prersonal emails.

I haven't signed into my Facebook in over four weeks...oh well.
I guess this means my life doesn't revolve around FB.

Facebook lacks the brand permission or product purpose to make this a success: http://bit.ly/dfYdWI
