'Sarah Palin's Alaska' Ratings Break TLC Records

The premiere of Sarah Palin's new reality show delivered record-breaking ratings for TLC.

The first episode of "Sarah Palin's Alaska" on Sunday night drew 5 million viewers -- the biggest ever launch in the channel's history. It's also a big jump from the relatively lackluster ratings that Palin's special for Fox News, "Real American Stories," drew in April.

Not all of the 5 million who tuned in were fans, though, as an Alaskan environmentalist accused Palin and her family of violating the states' wildlife guidelines by fishing too close to a group of bears.
