Immerse yourself in Spanish fashion and beauty at the much-lauded BALENCIAGA: Spanish Master exhibit opening on November 19th at the Queen Sofia Spanish Institute. Conceived by designer Oscar de la Renta and curated by Vogue's European Editor-at-Large Hamish Bowles, over seventy items from the Cristobal Balenciaga archives will be on display.

The unprecedented exhibit is a celebration of the arts in Spain through Balenciaga's pioneering designs as the head of his Paris fashion house from 1937 to 1968. Legendary pieces will be on display like the "Infanta" gown from his 1939 collection, a silk-gazar dress from 1967 and the 1957 wedding dress worn by Sonsoles DĂez de Rivera (daughter of Balenciaga's Spanish muse, the Marquesa de Llanzol).

The accompanying catalog written by Bowles and published by Rizzoli is focused on the deep connection between the designer and his home country.

The exhibit runs from November 19 though February 19, 2011 and is located at 684 Park Avenue.
