Rock Stars and Scientists Join Forces To Make Science Hip

An unlikely duo, rock stars and scientists are teaming up for a new ad campaign that aims to make science cool again, reports USA Today.

The 2010 Rock Stars of Science campaign, set to premiere in December's GQ Magazine, is positioning musicians like Bret Michaels and Timbaland next to Nobel Prize winner Elizabeth Blackburn and Dr. Mehmet Oz, host of the Dr. Oz Show.

According to USA Today:

Rock stars are household names, but ResearchAmerica! polls suggest half the public can't name a living scientist. A 2005 National Academies of Science report complained parents aren't turning their kids on to science anymore.
