Sarah Palin 'New York Times' Article Previews Possible Presidential Run

Sarah Palin President 2012

Sarah Palin is set to reveal, in what may be her most frank and clear terms yet, the necessary steps that she believes she must take in order to prepare herself for a presidential run in 2012, an undertaking that is looking increasingly likely. What's more, she spills it to the New York Times.

Palin admits to Robert Draper of the New York Times magazine that "proving my record" is "a hurdle I would have to cross, that some other potential candidates wouldn't have to cross right out of the chute," according to Politico's advance look of the article.

"That's the most frustrating thing for me -- the warped and perverted description of my record and what I've accomplished over the last two decades," Palin continued. "It's been much more perplexing to me than where the lamestream media has wanted to go about my personal life. And other candidates haven't faced these criticisms the way I have. ... I'm on television nearly every single day with reporters ... Now granted, that's mainly through my job at Fox News, and I'm very proud to be associated with them, but I'm not avoiding anything or anybody. I'm on Facebook and Twitter. I'm out there. I want to talk about my record, though."

In this, Palin seems to be trying to equate her Fox News and social media presence to a degree of open access that she has long been criticized for not possessing.

Asked by Draper if she's considering a run for president, a question that Palin seems to be asked almost daily -- if not more frequently -- the former Alaska Governor responded:

"I am...I'm engaged in the internal deliberations candidly, and having that discussion with my family, because my family is the most important consideration here."

Palin has said much the same before. This time, however, she spoke more openly about the need to hone her message and draft a new staff.

"Palin went on to say that there weren't meaningful differences in policy among the field of G.O.P. hopefuls 'but that in fact there's more to the presidency than that' and that her decision would involve evaluating whether she could bring unique qualities to the table. 'Yes, the organization would have to change,' Palin said. 'I'd have to bring in more people -- more people who are trustworthy,'" Politico previews.

As for how she consumes her media on a daily basis, Draper also reveals Palin's form of morning mental calisthenics:

"Every morning, Palin reads a briefing consisting of a few bullet points prepared by [advisers Andrew] Davis and [Rebecca] Mansour. ('I wouldn't make too much of it,' Davis cautioned me. 'It's like [Politico's] Playbook, only without the birthdays. Sometimes I throw in a sports score.')"

The "Murdoch Media" has become so big in this country that Palin will be able to get her message out without worrying about the mis-steps of 2008.

THAT has been her political education over the past 2 years; how to control her message and image.

2012 will be a replay of 2000.   A smart, experienced, articulate, erudite Democrat versus an "aw shucks," folksy, down home,  Read More...

There are some trainees down at Sniper school in Fort Benning who would love to see Sarah Palin be elected President.

I think that if Palin doesn't win the GOP nomination, she should run as an independent or on a third-party ticket. I wouldn't recommend a write-in campaign, however, as many of her supporters would be hard pressed to learn how to spell P-A-L-I-N.

Sarah Palin as President is exactly what the violent, incompetent, fraudulent, USA deserves. Bring it on. Rejoice in the glory of the End Times.

Bad idea. You'll just fall victim to my plot to close the borders while she's en route between Alaska and the lower 48.

Someone do the math, please. During the Presidential Campaign of 2008, in a biographical special on each candidate, CNN reported that Sarah and Todd Palin eloped a scant 8 months before their first child was born. You can't blame Bristol for having an illegitimate child. She learned that behavior at home. This woman can't manage her own family, let alone the US Presidency. The idea is insane.

Ironic...women want a female president, but a president Paylin will cause the set back of a lot of women advances.

I'm sure that most women who want a female president are at least a little bit discerning over who should receive that honor.

Have you seen her fan base? From what I've seen it's mostly the white soccer moms who believe everything Oprah tells them to do as well. Just another snake oil salesman. No offense ladies, but you really need to do some homework on Palin and stop being Oprah's sheeple!

Does Barac.k Obam.a have a chance of annihilating Sara.h Pal.in in a race for president... Does lighting strike the same place twice? (Cut to scene of Sara.h Pali.n holding on to the top of the Empire State Building antenna getting hit by lighting twice)
Sara.h Pal.in: Ouch...Ouch!

But what about Todd? The human political boat anchor? A divorce now is too late. Should have gotten rid of that pesky governorship AND Todd. If it only hadn’t have been those darn kids and that pesky dog.

Frankly, I'll be shocked if she runs. She has a cult of personality, which makes it impossible for anyone to say anything bad about her. How could the other GOP candidates go about running without trashing her? It won't happen. She knows that she will fracture that party if she runs because she's not a serious candidate, so if she was nominated, she would get stomped in the general election. She knows that better than anyone else.

Besides, she proved that she would much rather be a celebrity than a politician.

I agree. She doesn't want to be Pres. Palin any more than Christina wanted to be Sen. O'Donnell.
Sarah would lose money, and Christina just wanted name recognition to be able to sell a book or contract a reality show.....or find herself a place on "Fox Not-Real-News".

Exactly. I would even vote for a conservative candidate if they were serious about the job, but i have yet to see a GOP nominee that even remotely comes close to the qualification.

A Gater:
"I've said it before, but it bears repeating; I live in TN, which is basically the large tacky buckle for the bible belt, a state so red its like a stuck pig bled all over it. And this was in the paper this morning:

http://www.timesfreepress.com/news/2010/nov/18/sarah/?opinioncartoons

I love the comments, I love the fact that even dyed in the wool conservative Republicans in the state think she's a joke. I love that last time I checked no one defended her, not even a little bit. I especially love the comment about the 11 other Republicans that will be in the primaries and how they will do their best to destroy her chances.

If she thinks the lamestream media is tough wait until she finds herself surrounded by accomplished, serious, Republicans who want the Presidency just as much, if not more than she does. I think I sometimes forget that there is an awful lot of time between now and when the actual 2012 race occurs. The Republican primaries are going to be grand!

OUCH! She's right. Some good comments coming one of the Reddest of all States.

America we can not in any way support irrational $arah who's personality is a combination of O'Donnel, Angle, Miller and "God told me" Beck to dominate the political arena again! We would lose respect and international credibility! Nations around the world would laugh and might even attempt to invade us especially after hearing that she would send "Mama Grizzilies" to fight in foreign wars! Her political experience is equivalent to running a mom and pop corner stand compared to running this country! She has no real formal diplomatic experience or foreign relations! She's uneducated! This is like putting Nero the irrational in office like in Rome and everybody knows what happened in Rome!

I feel your pain. I'm having the same fear because...good God, it happened this past election. How did Paul ever get elected? Something is really wrong in America and I'm sorry to say, I can't put my faith in the American Public anymore. In my sixty years, I never thought we'd see the likes of these kind of people elected. I thought us smarter than that. Boy, was I ever wrong. I truly believe Dubya was put in twice by Diebold - but after this election, I'm not so sure Diebold will be needed. And THAT my friend, is saying something. Scary chit indeed.

talking points and sound bites cannot run a country... it requires thoughtful process, keen intelligence, ability to conceive & implement policies that are all inclusive and not divisive and so on.. all of which Sarah Palin sorely lacks
