The Best Non-Pie Thanksgiving Desserts From Food52

For the past year, Food52.com readers have been voting in weekly showdowns of reader-submitted recipes on a given theme. The winning recipes of each week will end up in Food52's upcoming cookbook, along with bios of the people who submitted them (Food52 explains the process in simple detail here).

Food52 and its co-founders Amanda Hesser and Merrill Stubbs have invited HuffPost Food readers to vote on week 11's contest (of the second year, and the second book).

This week's showdown is for the non-pie thanksgiving dessert.

Check the finalists out below, and vote for your favorite here.

Cranberry-Molasses Pudding with Vanilla Hard Sauce

Amanda and Merrill's notes on Cranberry-Molasses Pudding with Vanilla Hard Sauce on Food52.com:

A true English steamed pudding -- dark, moist and intensely comforting -- CottageGourmet's Thanksgiving dessert suggestion really steps outside of the box. The pudding itself is barely sweet, almost savory in fact, and looks almost black, studded all over with tart, crimson cranberries. The "hard sauce" (which bucks tradition in that it is served warm and liquid) brings the sweetness to the table, soaking every bite of the soft, tender pudding with a rich hit of butter, sugar and cream. - A&M

Ginger Apple Torte

Amanda and Merrill's notes on Ginger Apple Torte on Food52.com:

A fusion of gingerbread and apple cake, this recipe is our dream cake for fall -- layers of spiced batter sandwich tender caramelized apples and on top a coating of turbinado sugar melts to a sturdy, glassy crust. Eat this cake fresh, within a day, and make sure you caramelize the apples when sauteeing, so they get a little oomph! - A&M
