World Cities That Look Beautiful At Night (PHOTOS)

First Posted: 11/19/10 01:32 PM ET   Updated: 05/25/11 07:15 PM ET

Some people are city people, some are country people. If you're a city person, you'll never stop being fascinated by and enthralled with skylines and architecture around a town.

Cities can be, at times, best viewed at night, if nothing else to realize the vastness of a place.

With that in mind, here are 22 cities that are simply breathtaking at night.

Ummmmm...no San Francisco? Even without the bridge in the forefront it's a gorgeous skyline!

Still think a dark sky with all of the stars is better than any of these cities

I think this really depends on preference for cities with skyscrapers & lots of neon a la Tokyo or cities with well-lighted beautiful old buildings. I much prefer the latter. The Seven Hills of Rome at night are one of the wonders of our world! Rome at night is just gorgeous and driving past the Coliseum at night is something everyone should do once in their life.

AMSTERDAM!!! - las vegas?

LOL. This is such silly list. "Cities that look beautiful at night". You could practically include every city in the world with the right photography. What's next? "Cities that look good in the afternoon sun?"

And, the fact that there's 29 slides makes me think that this is just designed to increase page-views.

Here's a blurry one but the Northern lights make up for it.

whoever put this together must have a limited life experience. i agree that paris and san francisco are missing but chicago has been left out as well! anyone who has seen chicago's skyline off of lake michigan at night will agree that the city of big shoulders belongs on this list.

"I began to like New York, the racy, adventurous feel of it at night, and the satisfaction that the constant flicker of men and women and machines gives to the restless eye. I liked to walk up Fifth Avenue and pick out romantic women from the crowd and imagine that in a few minutes I was going to enter into their lives and no one would ever know or disapprove."
