Jessica Simpson: I Cried When Eric Proposed (VIDEO)

Jessica Simpson visited 'The Early Show' Monday to promote her new Christmas album and talk about her recent engagement to Eric Johnson, the former NFLer she began dating in May.

"It was a total surprise," she said. "I actually had to sit on his knee I was so shocked." She added that he had been planning to propose for a while and had "been a gentleman about it" by talking to her mom and dad first.

When asked just who Eric Johnson is, Jessica said, "He's the best man in my life! Sorry, dad."

Jessica's dad and manager Joe is reportedly concerned about her refusal to get a prenup this second time around.

Jessica described Eric's emotional proposal.

"I said yes and we both definitely were teary-eyed. I didn't even try the ring on until like, five minutes in," she said. "I was so shocked, just kind of sat there and cried with him."
