'America By Heart,' New Sarah Palin Book: What You Need To Know

The Huffington Post     First Posted: 11/23/10 09:01 AM ET   Updated: 05/25/11 07:15 PM ET

Sarah Palin's new book, "America By Heart: Reflections on Family, Faith and Flag" hits the shelves Tuesday, in an event that is sure to enliven an otherwise slow political week.

The release of her book marks the start of a whirlwind book tour for the former Alaska Governor, a bus trip that will bring Palin to key cities in the South, Southwest and Midwest. Notably absent from that list are key liberal bastions, areas where the former vice presidential candidate and potential 2012 contender would more likely be subjected to protest.

The book is just the latest in an ongoing effort by Palin to take the media by storm, an action that many see as a preparation for an impending run for president. Palin's reality TV show, "Sarah Palin's Alaska" launched earlier this month on TLC to huge viewership numbers. She's also a regular face on the Fox News network, though she recently opened up to the New York Times, and has filmed an interview with ABC News that will air next month.

Needless to say, many believe that the release of a new book, particularly at this time, is a clear sign that she is steeling herself for a shot at President Obama in 2012. Advance looks at her book show that the "mama grizzly" devotes portions of her text to criticizing Obama and his agenda.

But that's not all she writes about. Take a look of some other key excerpts below and vote on the best.

The Associated Press reports:

The former Alaska governor and GOP vice presidential candidate writes in her new book that it was "disgusting" to watch Johnston, the estranged father of her grandson, exploit his sudden fame after she was chosen as U.S. Sen. John McCain's running mate in the 2008 election. She alleges that he was absent when her daughter Bristol Palin gave birth to Tripp and that he disgraced himself by repeatedly criticizing the Palins.

"Of course, we all had to bite our tongues – more than once – as Tripp's father went on a media tour through Hollywood and New York, spreading untruths and exaggerated rhetoric," Palin writes. "It was disgusting to watch as his fifteen minutes of fame were exploited by supposed adults taking advantage of a lost kid."

SARAH PALIN, DOMESTIC TERRORIST
WHAT AMERICANS NEED TO KNOW

In an otherwise great year for Republicans she endorsed a “Star Wars” bar gaggle of anomalous and wacky losers — the former witch, Christine O’Donnell; the raging nativist, Tom Tancredo; and at least two candidates who called for armed insurrection against the government, Sharron Angle and a would-be Texas congressman, Stephen  Read More... . Last week voters in Palin’s home state humiliatingly “refudiated” her protégé, Joe Miller, overturning his victory in the G.O.P. Senate primary with a write-in campaign. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/11/21/opinion/21rich.html?_r=1&ref=columnists

"It's just a peculiar thing, but she does, as I found out in May, she presses a button and what comes back is hate," he said. "The people who respond when she complains about something are just so filled with hate. I got some of the ugliest, most vile e-mails directed at me, my grandchildren, my children, my wife – just ugly, ugly stuff."
As for his interviews, most people he approached in Palin's hometown were willing to speak, but he said there was what he calls an "undercurrent of fear."
"People – I don't know if they're afraid of shadows or whether there's something real there – she's no longer in a position of governmental influence but there are people up there who are scared to death to talk because if Sarah ever found out they talked, oh, something terrible would happen to them," he said.

It's sad how starved her followers are for a hero or a person to look up to. Well so much for their religion and so much for their ability to discern rot from worthy truth.

Such an idiotic remark. ANyone and everyone in this country knew if they paid even a little attention how bad the situation was. People like you probably thought it would be like balancing your personal checking account thus your insightful attempt at humor.

We're supposed to believe she actually wrote this? A real author wouldn't have time to write a book with her schedule. There is no way someone who has trouble stringing together three coherent sentences could have gotten it done.

Honestly, her sheeple "followers" believe anything. If she had, written it, it would have been one LONG run on sentence that flitted from one random thought to another. What a twit.

It's interesting where she is promoting the book. How about NYC or Philadelphia? It appears she is staying in the midwest and the south. Is that how she will campaign if nominated? Skip the big cities and just go to small towns where the "real Americans are"? Anything I read about her gets me annoyed.

She's only going to Real America because the rest of us don't count. We aren't Real Americans and don't deserve the pleasure of her company. (Not that I was looking for that, anyway.)

Yeah, that's how she'll campaign if nominated. It'll be the first national campaign conducted exclusively between the coasts, not on them.

"... fifteen minutes of fame were exploited by supposed adults taking advantage of a lost kid."
This applies just as aptly to what Sarah Palin did to her own children.

Palin goes as far as to say the president has “a stark lack of faith in the American people” because of his “rejection of American exceptionalism.” #4
"No one they have encountered in their lives – from their parents to their teachers to their president – wanted them to feel bad by hearing the truth," #8
She truly does not see the disconnect, the dichotomy of these two views.

The washington post statement she quoted that people of religion are 'largely poor, uneducated and easy to command,' though taken as inflammatory, actually aptly describes how she treats her audiences.
