I am thankful for those educators who inspired me to enter the field. I am thankful for middle school children who make me realize the importance of teaching as I touch their lives, enlighten their souls, and expand their minds. I am thankful for the millions of teachers who go into the classrooms each and every day and do an honest day's work educating the youth of this country, despite the fact that politicians and some of the general public demoralize and demonize them. God Bless all educators who continue to work with our youth!

I am thankful for the teacher, who made school interesting and fun, making me want to know more about several issues. That reading is interesting and that books can get you in almost every country in this world, without really being there. He taught us well and also spend part of his own time with us, so we would excel in many things in life. We talked about him sagain in our last class reunion and after almost 40 years we still admire and love him.

As an educator I am thankful for the awareness that I can learn just as much from my students as they from me, and the understanding that learning happens with more depth, breadth, and at greater length if it is presented in a way that appeals to today’s learners. I am thankful for the many means through which we can communicate today; for the horizon-expanding diversity in our classrooms; for the accessibility to education for people from all ages; for the ongoing debates among scholars about everything, so that we become stronger in our views; and for the fascinating trend that people can live in one country and attend school in another through the Net. These are great times!

I am thankful for our nation's great teachers, many of whom get little if any of the credit they deserve for their thankless service. In this environment of hostility, manufactured by political and corporate interests and fueled by media misinformation and the manufactured shrillness of Waiting for Superman, thousands of dedicated educators continue to build lesson plans, construct vibrant and culture-rich instructional environments, and engage students in the process of learning.

Thank you teachers! One day, perhaps this nation will come around to appreciating the contributions you make, every day, to our future.

I'm thankful for the many dedicated teachers that I have had over the years that taught me how to read, write and spell correctly.

Whe BEST teachers I had throughout the years were my own parents. Without their love, support, and sacrifice, whatever success I had educationally wouldn't have happened.

I am thankful to the State of Illinois...where I grew up (in the southern part). The State of Illinois gave me a scholarship to it's in-state institutions for doing good. Being from a poor family (money-wise) I was able to go to college basically for free. I worked part-time and had a pretty nice time. I then used my degree to become a Navy Officer...travelled around the world on ships, married a pretty girl, have two fine children/. I had never seen the ocean when I joined up....and would never have been able to go further than the lumber yard if it wasn't for the State of Illinois.

I also got help with tuition from an Illinois grant and was the first person in my family to graduate from college.
