Thanksgiving 2010: Tech Figures Share What They're Thankful For (PHOTOS)

First Posted: 11/25/10 10:27 AM ET   Updated: 05/25/11 07:15 PM ET

Thanksgiving and tech may not seem like two things that would go together: One is all about tradition, while the other constantly strives to change the status quo.

This year, we thought we'd combine the two to start a HuffPostTech Thanksgiving tradition of our own. In celebration of the holiday, we got in touch with some of our favorite people in tech--the co-founders of Foursquare, eBay CTO Mark Carges, Groupon CEO Andrew Mason, Microsoft's Joe Belfiore, Craigslist founder Craig Newmark, and many more--to ask them what they are thankful for this year.

See their answers below. What are you thankful for?

"I'm thankful that I get to work with some of the smartest people I know every day to build the products I've been dreaming up for years. I'm also thankful for all of the users that made 2010 such a crazy, fun year for the foursquare team." -- Dennis Crowley, CEO and Co-founder of foursquare

I am thankful for a challenging future. Where the American Dream may rise again. Where freedom of speech means something good. Where citizens get involved to make a better world. Where everyone has access to education. Where, rich or poor, citizens and neighbors are family. Where all the poor have homes and all the hungry are fed.

Where the excuses for not doing the right thing are no longer given top billing.

I am thankful that Americans are generous, loving and kind.

Here is what I am thankful for: the 1,000 + students who made this video. It is the most joyful thing I have ever seen:

With all seriousness, I like to thank Craigslist and its founder. Craigslist has been a truly empowering tool to real people around the world. It changed the way I earn my living, the way I buy things and even see the world. A no nonsense open forum.

I'd be more thankful is Mark Zuckerberg weren't trying to trademark anything with the word "cranberry" in it. As it is, we'll be lucky to be able use 2 out of every 3 words of the English language by next year.

See you ___ .

You've violated my copyrights on the words "the," "to," "of," "be," and "Zuckerberg." You also have several molecules in your body on which I have patents.
See you in court.

"I'm truly thankful for the inspiration, the ability, the opportunity, and above all the courage to be writing my next book. Who knows how far our words will reach into the future. As such I feel an obligation to write for those few beyond the horizons of the many dawns yet to come. My delight would be in knowing that they are thankful that I and others like me felt the need to write something beautiful for them."
Richard Mc Sweeney, a Self-originating Irish author/poet

Thank you ... :) ... Bianca.

Why do we worship the "business leaders". I would rather hear from joe six pack.
