You forgot the Salmon River in Upstate NY. Great for Steelheads as well as Salmon during the Fall spawning run.

I know, it's rediculous, really, c'man, I mean seriously......

Amazing rainbow fishing almost everywhere in the province, and of course, salmon and halibut. The north has grayling, char, kokanee, dolly varden.....my favourite being the rainbow trout from the deep northern lakes.

The Henry's Fork and South Fork of the Snake River, Silver Creek, the Madison, the Beaverhead, Rock Creek, the Bighorn, the Yellowstone, and the Clark Fork are all within a couple of days of each other, and all have some of the best fly fishing on the planet. The Rocky Mountain West has more Blue Ribbon water than anywhere else. I would encourage any diehard fly fisherman to visit any and all of these places.

Absolutely agree. A list of the greatest fishing trips and Idaho/Montana is left off? I grew up on the banks of the Henry's Fork.

The Railroad Ranch is my favorite spots on earth.

Fanned for that alone, and the Con bit doesn't hurt. I live 5 minutes from the South Fork. And I fish Harriman State Park on the Henry's, a lot. You remember the saying, "where the dumb trout have PhDs."

Nice to meet a fellow "lip ripper" here on HuffPo.

I am a Yankee fan, but I suppose I can let that indiscretion on your part slide.

Fly fishing in the Bitterroot Valley, MT., it doesn't get much better than that.

I've been lucky to be able to fish some of those places. However, I think they missed a few great places in the smokies and in the midwest. Heck, I live in Wisconsin and we have some of the greatest fishing in the U.S. and lots of wilderness too.

Please don't do this, Huffington Post: The Kenai River's king salmon have been seriously damaged. It is not in their numbers but in their size. After years of marketing and targeting of these fish by the guided sportsfishing industry they have lost their 'legendary' size as the large ones were caught and it was mostly the small ones that went on to spawn. There's still healthy numbers of them but they are small. Don't promote and market fragile environments. This place is extremely overcrowded and the environment suffers from severe erosion and other environmental damage from the thousands and thousands of sportsfishermen...STOP.

Even a bigger problem than sport anglers/guides - commercial fishermen and this is the case all over Alaska. Looking at your avatar, you may be one....sorry, but it's the truth.
04:57 AM on 11/27/2010
Alaska's commercial salmon fisheries are having extraordinary returns do to excellent management. You didn't read what I wrote carefully. The same number of kings are returning to the Kenai River and more, but they are small. The sports fishery has selected the large fish for decades now and it is reaping the results. The small kings survived and thrived, the large kings were kept as trophies and did not reproduce. This is a recognized biological problem across many species where the largest animals are targeted. As for the commercial salmon fisheries, the only sorts that hate them are the OIL COMPANIES!!! Are you a Tony Knowles plant? The salmon fisheries represent a very expensive liability to oil companies in the event of spills and hence the oil companies pit sports and personal use against the salmon fisheries at every opportunity. Get an education or take a powder! This situation is also arising with large mining projects such as the Pebble Mine above Bristol Bay and the Chuitna Coal project.

My favorite place to fish is down at the hatchery rearing ponds. You have to wait until late at night and jump the fence, but the action is great, and some of the older brood stock are really big!
