Add Burano, an island about 40 minutes off of Venice, to the list of places to visit.

The island is known for its lace and the colorful homes of local fisherman dot the landscape. Readers already know how we feel about colorful places, but Burano is high on our list for a day trip while in Venice.

Was there in 2002. Hope to return some day. The little shops where they sell their hand sewn lace are charming. We took a boat there from mainland Venice and I am so glad we did. Burano is right beyond Murano, where they make the famous Murano glass.
