Festival Of Strikes: Bowling And Judaism, Together At Last

Festival Of Strikes: Bowling And Judaism, Together At Last

Attention, fans of Judaica and bowling: Tablet Magazine and UJA-Federation of New York have teamed up for Tuesday's event, Festival of Strikes. This pre-Hannukah party features the comedic styling of Eugene Mirman, a live performance by The Sway Machinery, and Tel-Aviv hip-hop group Soulico. According to Tablet's website:

Festival of Strikes is the holiday party to kick off the season on the night before Hanukkah. While at the concert, capture that perfect holiday picture to send to friends and family and create last-minute gifts. Plus, the first 150 people in the door will receive a free drink!

For the event, Tablet put out a call for Jewish bowling poetry, and amazingly received only three responses, the best of which is this one, from "Sophie":

Pitcher of cold beer
the day after Yom Kippur.
A strike! Book of Life.

Who can we turn to
in this our season of need?
The Big Lebowski.

June in the alley,
my kepah in the gutter.
Oy, oy, oy vez mir.

All proceeds benefit JDub, "a not-for-profit record and event production company for innovative Jewish music, community, and cross-cultural dialogue."
