Natalie Portman, Anne Hathaway & Mila Kunis: Out & About On Monday Night (PHOTOS, POLL)

A bevy of actresses hit the red carpet at the IFP's 20th Annual Gotham Independent Film Awards in N.Y.C. on Monday night. And, oh, the fashion statements they made.

Natalie Portman led the pack in this season's most desirable mass market designer collection, Lanvin Hearts H&M, while Julianne Moore went for the real thang -- just Lanvin, thank you. Mila Kunis rocked a Michelle Obama-esque belt...but it was Leighton Meester who grabbed our attention (no, not in a sheer jumpsuit) in a menswear-inspired look. Actually, scratch that. It was menswear by Thom Browne.

I love Natalie Portman, but the puffy shoulder thing - ew. Anne Hathaway looked great - I loved that dress. And did anyone else think that Ryder looked like a cupcake with that dress on? Like a mini cupcake. Not a pretty dress.

She does -- sort of.

Not sure whether it is the lighting, or whether she has lightened her hair -- a big mistake a lot of dark haired women make.

Anne Hathaway is an example of an amazing beauty with classic "winter" coloring. It is that coloring that makes her a spectacular beauty. The lighter hair with red highlights against her cool skin tone greatly diminishes her looks. Women who make that mistake will find themselves looking in the mirror, knowing they don't look great but not being able to put their finger on why.

She is normally very fair skinned..but that shouldnt be her trademark. Shes just beautiful all-around. I think in this instance her skin def. seems to have more color than usual which I think works with the auburn hair color she chose. Its a nice change if you ask me. But yea we all know she'll go back to a darker look sometime soon. Just like the mistake Katherine Heigl made going brunette. What was she thinking?! But with Anne, I think it might have just been to go with the dress. Time will tell.

Anne Hathaway should keep her hair long and straight like that for a while. It downplays her gigantic eyes. (I do think she is a very lovely lady though, just with exaggerated features.)

Really? I love her features, especially her eyes! Her large eyes are really what makes her gorgeous. I'd like to see her play them up more, perhaps some black eyeliner, Middle Eastern style.
