Estes Park's Historic Stanley Home Listed for $2.4 Million (PHOTOS)

PHOTOS: Stanley Hotel Designer's Historic Home Listed For $2.4m

The famous and historic Stanley Hotel in Estes Park was designed by F.O. Stanley, who also made his home in the Colorado town in 1903. The home he fashioned for himself was in large part a domestic replica of the now world-famous hotel, which is still most famous for its appearance in Stanley Kubrick's adaptation of The Shining.

Stanley's home is currently listed for $2.4 million--on the market for the first time in 32 years--with most of the home's original post-Victorian charms preserved, and features extraordinary similarities to his hotel. The exterior is designed in the same New English style, the old tiled fireplace in the formal living room is even a detailed match to the one in the music room of the hotel.

The 5,240 square-foot home has 4 bedrooms, 4 baths, wood flooring from Rocky Mountain National Park.

Correction: This story states that the Stanley Hotel appeared in Stanley Kubrick's adaptation of The Shining. Kubrick's film was, in fact, not shot at the hotel. Rather, the Stanley Hotel was the inspiration for the Stephen King novel on which the movie was based.
