Kate Middleton's Issa Engagement Dress Hits NET-A-PORTER

First Posted: 12/01/2010 8:18 am Updated: 05/25/2011 6:15 pm

Can't make it to London, where Kate Middleton engagement dress knockoffs are lining the streets (or so we imagine it to be that way)? Issa's original long-sleeved silk-jersey dress, yes, the very version Kate first paired with Princess Diana's sapphire ring has hit NET-A-PORTER.

The first shipment of the $535 frocks sold out within hours of the official announcement of her royal engagement, but the site expects to receive more dresses in January. In the meantime, customers can add the dress to their "Wish Lists," so they'll be ready to make their purchases as soon as it becomes available.

Unfortunately, NET-A-PORTER wasn't able to tell The Huffington Post how many more dresses the site is expecting...which means if you want a piece of the Kate Middleton style pie, you'll just have to keep watching the site and practicing your clicking skills.

I like the dress, makes it easy for anyone to wear it.

I was shocked: the dress is quite nice! Though the pic of the dress for sale seems better looking than the one Kate is sporting: the waist sash is cuter.

This isn't an over the top fashion statement but one that would suit any and all who WOULD wear it! The color and silhouette will be flattering to most women. The color is one we refer to as a Crossover Color. Perhaps she picked it because she wants to have a greater appeal to her future subjects. Not at all alienating! Beautiful girl, beautiful dress. Wish them many years of happiness.

To own for your "own" a piece of history that will not be sold in stores for very much longer, it is a fact that $500 for this dress is dirt cheap.

I am fascinated by its elegance and simplicity and its understated feminity - I am 100 percent behind this design - if you had to pick a piece of royal wear to own - from Diana's collection or from the one emerging from Kate Middleton - this is the one. Simply stated PERFECTION.

I like the dress, but $535? Can't they make a cheaper version?

minty68, my sentiments exactly. The dress is classy, simple and very feminine. I would love to own a "knockoff" version of it, but at a much more economical price.

I am willing to bet that there will soon be a high street version at half the price or less very soon.

I agree Redemption Song. it's a very ordinary looking "nice" dress which I feel was carefully chosen for the occasion so as to not look too fashionable. Comfortable and a bit matronly looking which is the usual garb of the British royal family, Pretty girl though and she might expand her style after she gets married.
