Pie Day: The Best Pie In Los Angeles

There is a new dessert on the menu this season and it's not just for the holidays. Pie, the new 'it' dessert (read, move over cupcakes!) is popping up in all shapes, sizes and flavors. While some versions of the delicious treat are still made grandma's old-fashioned recipes, the pies of today have a bit of a kick (think vegan, tart-style, herbs, and "found" fruit). In addition to classic nine-inch pies, Los Angeles eateries are also serving them up in individual sizes and are available for take-out, dine-in or front door delivery. The classic brasserie style food and French pastries make this restaurant an LA staple. Famous pastry chef Michel Richard opened the original in 1977, but the new location and ownership hasn't changed the delicious quality of the food. A full lunch and dinner menu keep the quaint restaurant busy, but it is the French pastries and desserts that keep people coming back again and again. Also, spotting an espresso-sipping celeb on the patio is not uncommon.
