Remember when the holiday season filled us with joy and excitement? Now, it seems to be a stressful few weeks filled with battling crowds while trying to avoid gaining ten pounds.

It doesn't have to be that way!

Many hit up Walmart for their holiday shopping needs, but we hope others will check out the unique and fun gifts Chicago's independent stores and businesses have to offer. Everything is under $100. If you are looking for foodie-friendly gift ideas (and don't care about gaining ten pounds), check out our Taste of Chicago gift guide here.

Happy shopping!

The folks running the Third Coast Collection love all things Chicago--and their online store is a great place to find unique, local gifts. We love the area code totes ($16.50) and neighborhood note cards ($16.50 for 6 cards/6 envelopes.)

Also check out Ork Posters for their modern, typographic neighborhood posters... they make great gifts! And their Holiday Pop Up Shop at 2003 W Montrose in Chicago has work from over 25 other printmakers, many Chicago-based, including Jay Ryan's work shown in this article.
