Scoring one of the top spots on the list of ladies we love is supermodel-turned-humanitarian-activist Christy Turlington Burns a.k.a. The Christy Turlington.

Although she's graced the cover of Vogue countless times, Christy has remained understated and sometimes earthy on the red carpet, opting for blazers and billowing gowns. But sometimes she'll show off her killer gams.

Aside from her enviable features, Christy's got a worthwhile mission in life, as an anti-smoking activist, documentary filmmaker speaking out about the difficulties of childbirth, and advocate for CARE to end world poverty.

Christy Turlington was always my favourite supermodel and of the "Big Six" I do think she has aged the best.

She wrote a book on yoga some years back with great photos of herelf in various poses and it was completely biographical detail her beginnings in yoga, her childhood and family. I think I finally gave the book away but sure it's still available. She's one of those women who grow more beautiful with age. I think that comes from what is inside a person which would be true in this case.

She's just lovely, isn't she? And such a quintessentially feminine face.

She doesn't get nearly as much publicity as Angelina Jolie and probably likes it that way, but Christy Turlington has done some truly important humanitarian work in battling smoking and lung cancer, poverty and in drawing attention to the still-significant (particularly in developing countries) risks of maternal death during childbirth. Very laudable!
