Stewart Mocks Media's Obsession With Sarah Palin's Tweets (VIDEO)

The Huffington Post
First Posted: 12/03/10 09:33 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 07:15 PM ET

Thursday night's "Daily Show" began with another thorough take-down of John McCain's stance on Don't Ask Don't Tell, but afterward Jon Stewart moved on to McCain's 2008 Presidential running mate Sarah Palin, who he dubbed "America's Tweetheart."

Palin has taken to Twitter to vent her frustrations with Obama's handling of the latest WikiLeaks document drop, but Stewart believes her outrage is primarily unfounded. To prove it, Stewart dissected one of her recent tweets that called for a stop to WikiLeaks' "treasonous act":

"There is the fact that WikiLeaks is in Sweden, and its founder Julian Assange is Australian, so really you can't charge them with treason against America... Because they're not American," Stewart said, adding that she might have been able to clarify if she hadn't used 18 characters to spell out the entire name of her new book, "America By Heart."

But what Stewart finds even more ridiculous than Palin's Twitter activity is the "lamestream" media's utter fascination with everything she tweets, "like a teenage boy with a crush on the stuck-up girl who hates him." Stewart showed this by rolling a slew of clips showing interest in her 140-character messages across networks, including a pretty hilarious one where Palin comes off more like Snoop Dogg than a former Governor.

My favorite is the video of Sarah Palens news cast where a local yocol is grinding off the heads of live turkeys behind her. Sort of a homey touch! Rigtht?

well, stewarts pretty funny

and his palin jokes go over a lot better than yesterdays kathy griffin fiasco

she told an anti-palin joke, and thousands and thousand of the troops she was supposedly there to entertain booed her

so much so, that even she had to (embarrassedly) comment on it

it was a pleasure to see her squirm

and did herself even deeper as she told yet another palin joke, and then the booing, which just went on and on, almost drowned her out

guess everyone, least of all not the troops, seem to think so poorly of palin

oh well, i guess progressives, in their liberal bubble, still think palin jokes are funny

The much bigger problem is that conservatives, in their bubble, seriously think Palin could be a "great president". The thought alone is ridiculous.
02:31 PM on 12/07/2010
generally speaking...

no one in any great numbers is saying Palin would be a great president

and only a tiny percentage of conservatives would choose her as their first choice for president

all people are saying is, that IF the ONLY choice available were Palin or obama

then of course they'd vote for her over the failed obama

but thats more a comment on how poorly obama has done,, as opposed to some great love of Palin

Sarah Palin has found her medium in Twitter - she can fail logic and butcher the English language all at the same time - with barely a blip on the ignoramogram.

The media's obsession with Her Highness reminds me of the reaction that people have when encountering a wreck on the highway.

Driving by, slowly, rubbernecking at the carnage...

The media obsession with Palin says more about the sad state our media has evolved to than any "endorsement" of Palin. The media was once a respected service that television networks provided for the public. Now it is a profit center and a vessel to push corporate and political agenda. Palin is sensational and polarizing and gets attention for these media outlets with her outrageous antics. She is like a walking, talking, BAD reality TV show--the more she misbehaves the more attention she gets. She is a master at manipulating media.

This is a pitiful self absorbed teenager in an adult's body. The only thing worse than the Quip Queen of Wasilla is the mainstream media's obsession with her.
