Starting in April of next year, British airports will begin phasing out a security ban on liquids in carryon luggage.

Similar to the United States airport security procedures, the liquids ban was introduced after a conspiracy to blow up transatlantic flights with explosives disguised as soft drinks was uncovered in 2006.

Makes sense. As several Chemists have pointed out, there are no liquids that can easily be mixed into an explosive so this was always not much of a threat.

Hooray! It was a stupid, useless rule to begin with. Now if only such common sense security measures spread across the pond back home.

Which means flying into the US, passengers can have as much liquids as they want in their luggage, but US passengers still can't fly anywhere within the US or out with more than a quart bag of 3oz liquids.
