Tackiness has become as much a part of the holiday celebration as spiked eggnog and stilted homecomings. But one tradition we hope never, ever dies is the holiday family portrait. For reasons unknown to most, families believe that every friend or relative they have ever spoken to demands to know how their year has been -- but the one thing that makes it all worth it is the very likely possibility that the enclosed portrait will be pure photographic embarrassment.
