The South American country of Peru is an adventurer's, gourmand's and history buff's dream. From the snow-capped peaks of the Andes to the deep jungles of the Amazon, arid deserts to rocky canyons, gorgeous churches to quaint colonial towns, the peerless Machu Picchu to the mysterious Nazca lines - not to mention the mouthwatering food and thriving nightlife of its spectacular cities - there is something for everyone in Peru.

These pictures don't do justice to the incredible diversity and heritage of Peru; there are just a teaser. You need to see it with your own eyes!

Wow, love Peru. What a great country, so rich in culture and environmental diversity. Unfortunately there are no pictures of the department of Acash, one of the most beautiful parts of Peru in the heart of the Andes. It is also home to the best hand-knit alpaca accessories!

Yay for Peru, thanks for sharing.

I think I'd like to see all Peru now.

I highly recommend it. I spent a month out there last year and there is so much to do and see. I'll be going back for sure to do Machu Picchu since it was shut down due to flooding when I was there.

Hiking down Colca Canyon was amazing(its actually only the second deepest canyon), and spending time on Lake Titicaca with a local family were really amazing highlights.

Wow, that's amazing. That must have been an expensive trip. I'll have to start saving now.

Hah, I think I was in Peru just about the same time you were there. I heard about all the rain and flooding while in Lima and by the time I got to Ollantaytambo I heard the bridge collapsed due to a landslide. The irony is that the weather during my entire trip was gorgeous with no rain! Peru is a beautiful country. I will be going back there most likely next year for a couple of weeks!

Will someone please teach huffpost writers how to spell? All you have to do is ask one of the billions of Spanish-speakers on the planet to spell "ceviche?"

The word is Spanish, not Italian.
