A Visit To Santa's Hometown Of Rovaniemi, Finland (PHOTOS)

First Posted: 12/09/10 02:43 PM ET   Updated: 05/25/11 07:20 PM ET

Rovaniemi, the capital of Lapland, Finland, lies at the northern Arctic Circle. It's a special place not only for its unbelievable location, but it also happens to be the hometown of Santa Claus (not to mention the most northern McDonald's in the world).

For the child adventurer, you can head to Santa Claus Village to "meet" Santa any day of the year (many of the letters children send to Santa arrive at the local post office).

It's a darling Christmas town in the middle of northern Finland. Get in the holiday spirit and check it out--at least through the photos below.

Sorry. The historical ST. Nicholas lived and preached in Turkey. He would bring toys to poor children and food to families in and around Antalya.
