Soho House Murder: Woman Found Dead In Bathtub

Woman Found Dead In Bathtub At Soho House

MANHATTAN -- A 33-year-old woman was found dead in the bathtub of a SoHo House hotel room Thursday morning, police said.

The unidentified woman was fully clothed, police said.

There was water in the tub when the woman was found just before 3 a.m., police said, but it was not immediately clear whether the woman drowned.

The medical examiner's office will determine the cause of death, police said.

A SoHo House worker called 911 at roughly 2:57 a.m., police said.

The woman was found unconscious and unresponsive when first responders arrived, police said.

The boutique hotel in the Meatpacking District 29 Ninth Avenue is a private members club that has 24 rooms and features a spa, a rooftop deck, and heated rooftop pool.

The hotel's website says some rooms contain free-standing egg-shaped bathtubs with 70-inch mirrors positioned behind them.

UPDATE: The New York Post reports that Nicholas Brooks, the son of oscar-winning composer Joseph Brooks, is being questioned by police in connection with the hotel death. The elder Brooks, the composer of "You Light Up My Life", was himself charged last year with 62 counts of sex-related charges, including rape.
