Juan Williams Writing Book About His NPR Firing, Free Speech

Fox News analyst Juan Wiliams has signed a new book deal with Crown Publisher, it was announced Tuesday. The deal will see Williams, whose firing from NPR this fall caused a firestorm of controversy, write two books for Crown, an imprint of Random House.

In a statement released to the New York Times, Crown said that the first book, planned for a summer 2011, release, will focus on "free speech and the growing difficulty in America of speaking out on sensitive topics." Williams will, of course, be writing about his firing from NPR.

The second book, which does not have a release date, will center on "the changing face of America," Crown said, and will look at people who have "helped to expand on and transform our ideas of what it means to be an American."
