UPDATE: According to his agent Darek Braunecker, Yankees pitcher A.J. Burnett is not getting divorced.

Sports blogs and message boards were abuzz with speculation Wednesday morning, after Cowherd broke the news on ESPN's The Herd.

"A.J. Burnett went through a terrible divorce and he still might going through it. His wife was vindictive and spiteful. I don't even feel comfortable telling you everything. The stories are ugly," Herd reportedly said.

Braunecker told reporters that ESPN radio host Colin Cowherd's allegations were "false," and that he had "no idea" what he was talking about.

The comment caused fans to speculate that a divorce may have been the cause of Burnett's underwhelming season last year.

He and his wife Karen have two children.

I hate Colin Cowherd. I always set my clock radio to his show so that as soon as I hear his voice in the morning, I bolt out of bed to turn it off. I've never had a more effective alarm.

The Yankees are coming undone..Cliff Lee likes us better, and took a boatload less money to play here for 2 reasons: he think we'll win, and he likes it here. Falling apart, those Yanks!

I'm going to go out on a limb and say Cliff Lee couldn't pick you out of a lineup.

'those Yanks' have more or less the same team as the 95 win team last year, sub ____ for Vazquez, upgrade at catcher/DH, shuffle some relievers around' + weaker rays.

They'll be fine.

I hope marital problems were behind his lousy season. Every announcer always says he's got great stuff (that is, referring to his pitches), so I'd like to think there was an explanation behind his terrible performances.

AJ, get rid of her asap. We don't have Cliff Lee, and we need you to pitch like the multimillion $ man you're supposed to be!
