Cabbie Dress Code? TLC To Vote On New York Mandate

This just in: the Taxi Limousine Commission is voting Thursday whether or not to amend an existing dress code to require cabbies have "a professional appearance." While the current dress code on the books for cabbies requires them to be "clean and neat in dress" the rule is lightly, if ever, enforced.

Violators of the dress code are subject to a $25 fine.

Why the new focus on taxi aesthetics? "Taxi drivers are ambassadors for the city, often the first person a visitor sees is a taxi driver," TLC Commissioner David Yassky told The Associated Press.

"We're just trying to make sure taxi drivers think about the fact they represent the city," he said.

In your perfect, fantasy world, what do you wish was the dress code for New York's fleet of cab drivers?
