Golden Globe 2011 Best Performance By An Actor In A Motion Picture - Drama: Predictions: Who Will Win?

First Posted: 12/15/10 01:14 PM ET Updated: 05/25/11 07:20 PM ET

What, no Brad Pitt, George Clooney or Leonardo DiCaprio? Nope, this year's best actor award is going to go to an emerging talent -- and in Franco's case, writer/director/artist, too -- who captured our attention with a breakthrough performance. Well, except for Mark Wahlberg -- he was already a superstar. And you might want to vote for him. He plays a pretty convincing boxer, you know.

Who Will Win The Golden Globe For Best Film Actor, Drama?

  • James Franco

  • Jesse Eisenberg

  • Colin Firth

  • Mark Wahlberg

  • Ryan Gosling

I feel bad for Colin Firth. I'm positive he'll win the Oscar, just like he won the Golden Globe, but I feel like the media is completely ignoring the guy. In all the "Oscar talk" TV shows/specials I've seen, they barely mention his name even though his movie has garnered 12 Oscar nominations! They just seem to focus on James Franco...over and over and over again...I'm honestly getting tired of seeing his face. One of the reasons I love Colin Firth is that he's rather shy (to the public) and remains really private, but he really deserves a little more attention for an Oscar frontrunner...just for the Oscar season if nothing else.

Colin Firth has the same momentum this year that Jeff Bridges had in 2010. He's going to take it all.

Firth. One of the greatest actors of his generation and a magnificent performance.

Sorry but every time I see Mark Wahlberg in a movie, I ask myself, with all the talented actors out there how did he get where he did today -- life's about luck. In The Fighter he does an 'okay' job but still ends up playing yet another version of his tough Boston guy self. Not enough for a globes nod in my book. Franco and Firth are true artists who can go far 'beyond themselves' when playing a role and that makes all the difference.

From an interview I saw, even Franco thinks it's going to be Firth.

James gave the best performance, but I'd bet money on Colin Firth.

I disagree - Colin Firth acted his face off for The King's Speech. Best performance I've seen in a decade from anybody.

Just saw 127 hours and Franco was sooo ... real. I think he should get it just to incentivize this type of acting. Dedication, selflessness are the only words I can think of to decsribe his performance. yowza

So much dirt, so little time.

Colin Firth. Jesse Eisenberg just played Zuckerberg as an annoying punk with Aspergers Syndrome. His performance lacked nuance. Timberlake was actually better than Eisenberg in my opinion.

At this point, it's between Colin Firth and Jesse Eisenberg. Colin Firth has the buzz, but so far, The Social Network has been an awards juggernaut.

I would Love for Mark or James to win, but we all know it's going to go to Colin Firth.
