Report: Soccer Player Hangs Himself After Fiancee's Affair With Teammate

Dale Roberts, the 24-year-old goalkeeper for non-league UK soccer team Rushden and Diamonds, reportedly hanged himself Tuesday in his home after discovering his fiancee's affair with teammate Paul Terry, according to The Daily Mail.

Roberts' 25-year-old fiancee Lindsey Cowan left him in May after she slept with Terry in the couple's home.

Roberts was said to have been "heartbroken by the split and struggled to cope with losing his fiancée."

After Cowan admitted the affair to Roberts, he refused to play alongside Terry, who is the brother of Chelsea star John Terry.

Roberts was found dead in his home and police said his death is not being treated as suspicious.

Cowan released a statement Wednesday calling Roberts "my childhood sweetheart and the love of my life".

Back in February, John Terry reportedly had an affair with Vanessa Perroncel, the ex-partner of England national soccer teammate Wayne Bridge.
