Nicholas Brooks Indicted In The Death Of Sylvie Cachay

Nicholas Brooks Indicted On Charges Relating To Sylvie Cachay's Death

Nicholas Brooks has been indicted by a Manhattan grand jury in the Soho House death of Sylvie Cachay.

The Daily News reports that the jury has sealed the verdict from the public, so the details of Brooks' indictment are not yet known.

Brooks was arrested Saturday on charges of strangling his girlfriend, a well-known fashion designer who worked for Victoria's Secret and Tommy Hilfiger before creating her own label, Syla.

Cachay was found dead in a filled bathtub at the posh downtown club Soho House in boyfriend Brooks' room. Brooks claimed he was at the downstairs bar having a drink with someone he'd just met, and arrived at 3 a.m. to find police in his hotel room.

Sylvie Cachay, 33, had been dating Nicholas Brooks, 24, but sources close to the couple say the relationship was on the rocks or already over.

Initial results from Cachay's autopsy proved inconclusive, though there was a half-full bottle of prescription pills found near her body. There were also bruises found on her neck and body at the time of her death, which appeared to support the original hypothesis that her death was a result of asphyxiation.

The 24-year-old is being held without bail in a Queens jail, and is expected to appear back in court on January 4th when the details of his indictment are unsealed.
