On Friday, local artists and art fans gathered at the Chicago Urban Art Society in Pilsen for a show dedicated to the only mayor some of those involved in the show have ever known: Mayor Richard M. Daley.

The Daley Show, curated by Anna Cerniglia and Peter Kepha, commemorates the mayor's role "as the preeminent political figure in Chicago during the past two decades, and his undeniable importance in shaping the future of the city," according to the exhibit's organizers.

The show features work by Ray Noland, Nick Adam, Peter Kepha, Ruben Aguirre, Don't Fret, Billy Craven, Kevin Wilson, Ryan Duggan, Abraham Velasquez Tello and more artists.

Love him or hate him, when Daley leaves office next year, he will have left a lasting impression on Chicago--even the city's art world.

"This exhibition can be viewed as a farewell in many regards," according to the organizers.

The Daley Show runs through Jan. 8 at the Chicago Urban Art Society, 2229 South Halsted St. in Chicago. The gallery is open on Thursday and Friday from 6 to 9 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
