Peter King: I'll Hold Hearings On Radical Islam

NEW YORK — The incoming head of the House Committee on Homeland Security says he will hold hearings on what he calls the "radicalization" of some American Muslims.

Rep. Peter King, a Republican from Long Island, said Sunday that law-enforcement officials around the country have told him they receive little cooperation from Muslims.

But a spokesman for the Council on American-Islamic Relations said he fears King's hearings will become an "anti-Muslim witch hunt." Ibrahim Hooper said several recent terrorist plots have been foiled because members of the Muslim community did cooperate with law enforcement.

King said in an opinion piece in Sunday's Newsday that he will do all he can to "drive the public debate" on Islamic radicalization.

What about hearings for radical Christianity and Radical Neo-Con TeaBaggers that still believe in and try to practice 'Manifest Destiny'? Having lived in the ME, I attest their problem is culture. “All men created equal for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness”; not their mission statement.
Contemporary Islam, a misogynistic caste system outlay over ancient text. Breakdown, Alpha Sunni Tribe Men = value 5, Beta Sunni Tribe = 4, Shia = 3, Christians =2, Jews = 1, Hindus = 0.0. Mix in families and nationalities, gets infinitely more complicated. Women are considered property of their designated caste. As a presumed Christian man in Kuwait, I was not allowed to even talk to women of 3, 4, and 5 statuses.
Get out of line in ME, you are immediately put in your place.
Radical Islam is carrying ME culture over to Geo-Politics. With perceived superior status nonexistent, it must be restored. 9-11, 5s trying to put 2s (the most powerful country) in their place. Palestine, 1s (doing their own successful thing) on land that belongs to 5s. Iraq war, 2s forcing 3s, 4s, 5s, to live equally. Indians subjected to slave conditions in Arab countries, yeah, they are 0s.
It will never stop until everyone converts to Sunni Islam or Sunnis are the most powerful people on earth. Neither Likely.

King is just doing the regular GOP sideshow of divide and distract Americans while his colleagues dismantle America. Nothing new about that. There are some "radical Christians" in America, too, such as terroristic anti-abortion fanatics who kill doctors. Perhaps there should be hearings held on that.

Sick of these republicans...muslims are not taking away our jobs, they are not taking food away from my children, they are not here illegally, they are not causing unemployment, they are not the reason our country is going bankrupt and they not blocking all the bills in senate to help the common Americans... so Mr. King, please focus on the issues at hand and stop finding scape goats for the issues and problems you and your party have created.

"They" include many moderates living in America who do none of those things. Let's no generalize about a whole religion. Parts of Islam have been hijacked by Arab desert culture, just as free-market zealots have redefined Christianity in America. The fault is in the (some) followers, not the faith.

Rep. King, the world financial system is in disintegration, you do know. Get the population's physical economy going, stop QE2 as deadly hyper-inflation will ensue. Terminate the monetary financial system, reinstate Glass-Steagall in US banking, recover the bailout trillions, banks that qualify will join the US National Bank, then fund the 50 states.

Stop Perpetual War, it threatens the national security and it's the wrong war.

Crisis economy formation measures must be implemented now or this great nation is doomed. People will die, as the standard of living dives,

The Inter Alpha Group of Banks irrationally demand that derivative loses be bailed out, forcing budget cuts and austerity on the population. The US irrationally obeys. This is the war, irregular, economic, financial war conducted against the United States. Congress facilitates the banker-speculators' subversion of the government and the national economy.

The United States must activate its' economic platforms to create a higher order of existence through the reorganization of resources and infrastructure that enhances our standard of living: Expand Social Security, Expand NASA space programs, the source of America's strength, Start the Nuclear Fueled Energy Economy, construct the interstate maglev rail system, construct the continental water distribution system proposed in the NAWAPA plan. These measures will employ 5 million Americans, reversing our crisis.

The United States must end its' submission to the Imperial monetary financier system, Globalization, commit itself to the redevelopment of the North American continent. Time is wasting, humanity is depending on the US.

This is all about demonizing muslims to pander for votes among the low information types who believe anything. What he will accomplish by this demonization is to alienate and radicalize people who might then lash out in this country with violence. If a population is singled out and made to feel like second class citizens, they feel little incentive to integrate and become productive citizens.

oh heck yeah that's it. remember McConnell saying. their main purpose in the congress for the next two years is to see that Obama fails!!. and the heck with doing their job. that's why they vote NO!! on everything. even bills they were for when Obama is for them. their suddenly against them.. except one little thing. it's kind of backfiring. their poll numbers are like kinda going in the toilet. they have a brilliant strategy working against themselves. wow! the tea-GOP.

Ooooo, hold hearing on Radical Islam.  Now that will be productive for Congress to do.  I am confident that something worth wild will come out of that one.  As far as Law Enforcement saying that Muslims are not very helpful, the same could be said of anyone that fears the way some Police view the ethnic groups.  Probably would not get much help from an Afro-American in Beverly Hills, a Litano in KY or Glen Beck on MSNBC.
