As I thought, first you make it Xmas, then you don't chop down a tree. Another battle in the War against Xmas ; )

I like the recycled catalogs. God knows there's enough magazines floating around my house to make a 14-footer. Its funny, but at the same time its a pretty cool way to recycle and have a "green" christmas. (And yes, I am aware that trees are a renewable resource, before anyone feels the need to point that out, its just nice to repurpose things that would ordinarily just take up space.)

Oh, those were the good old days when our family, poor as poor can be, saved our pooopies for 6-months. Ol' hard and not smelly no more, we put 'em on the dead ol' pine tree. The needles had fell off but the branches made fine stalks on which to skewer the poooopies. Oh, it was simply grand and looked 'jus like pine cones on 'dem branches. That was just the start. I'll save the rest of the story for nex' holy day season.

As for the recycled catalogs Christmas tree, I remember making Christmas trees from old Reader's Digests and National Geographics in elementary school art class...we also made wreaths from old IBM cards (those cards that had the keypunched holes in them...an early form of data processing.) After making the trees, they were painted with gold, silver, red, and green spray paint.
