Apple Insider reports that Japanese blog MacOtakara has leaked fresh Pad 2 rumors.

MacOtakara's anonymous Chinese source said that the next-generation iPad units are already in production and will feature some subtle design changes. For one, MacOtakara writes, the iPad 2 frame will measure 186 mm wide by 239 mm tall, making it 3 mm smaller than its predecessor.

The display size will measure 9.7 inches, as it does on the current iPad, according to MacOtakara. This means that the iPad 2's screen bezels will be slightly smaller than they were on the original iPad, Apple Insider points out.

While the first iPad's case featured a slightly curved back covering, MacOtakara says that the iPad 2 will resemble a flat-backed iPod Touch.

Recently leaked photos and video of cases supposedly made for the iPad 2 showed a mysterious opening along the bottom edge. (Check it out here.) According to MacOtakara, "[This openiing] is a large, wide-ranged speaker unit covered with metal mesh," rather than an SD slot or a USB port, as was previously speculated.

Interestingly, though, the source did not confirm the existence of the dual cameras that rumormongers have been whispering about for months. However, HuffPost blogger Jonathan Rettinger has said that the iPad 2 will almost certainly feature a front-facing and a rear-facing camera.

Take a look at MacOtakara's rendering (below), which is a mock-up of what the iPad 2's large speaker might look like. Then, browse our ultimate guide to iPad 2 rumors and tell us what you expect from the new device.

So many businesses are starting to buy these and I think they will eventually replace computers for a lot of people. I was at a camera club creative light workshop and some of the photographers brought their iPads and uploaded their photos right there so we could see what they were getting -- it was a fantastic way to share -- so much better than a bunch of us waiting to peer at a 3" LCD screen. I am definitely going to jump in and buy one after they put a camera on it have to admit I love using a webcam on my computer to share my hummingbirds at the feeder with my friends. I bought my iPod Touch after a few generations but a year before the camera was incorporated so I will wait for it in this -- still love my Touch and am happy I got it. I like astrology so my first app purchase will be either Star Walk or goskywatch.

These people who *despise* Apple, or even Microsoft or any of the Linux distros (including Android) irk me. Every device has it's own flaws and high points. Yes, Apple's app store IS a walled garden, but the quantity and quality of the content tips that scale over. If every app in the app store were awful and there was only 7, then that would be a whole other story.

The ipad doesnt have a plan cost like the iphone though so i am wondering on how apple would be able to sell the older ipads based on price. Looking at the ipod model any new version make the previous version obsolete.

I had low expectation for the iPad as I had a kindle and could not see a purpose for this new gizmo. My wife is about to schedule an intervention for me. Wow, I think apple hit this out of the park and can see little room for improvement, except the weight of a kindle.

It would be great to get stereo speakers, higher res LCD, a little faster CPU. I will certainly get one. I held out on the first iPhone and got the 3G. I held out on the 3Gs and got the 4. I think I made the best of my money without appearing to being a hyper fanboy by getting every upgrade there is. I will hold out on the iPad until the iPad 2 as well.

The only reason a camera would be good for it is because of apps that would be fun to use it on. Think about it, you could put other peoples hair on yours! That would be fun

If is substantially better than the iPad I am typing this on, then Apple gets more of my money. One of the few decisions still left is my ability to determine when to upgrade.

It would be nice if Jobs just came out with another keynote presentation at an event and revealed the new iPad and the rumored verizon iPhone. I understand that getting people excited about a product and creating hype increases sales or at least interest in the product, but come on already. Just come out with it Apple and spill the beans already.

If he did that, then no one will be buying the iPad 1.

Who needs yet another digital camera in their life, let alone 2?
Maybe the iPad 2 should have a forward facing camera for video chat.
Then, they could make a camera that plugs in the iPad connector/USB port. It could swivel and point any direction you want. It would also work on the original iPads.
That would satisfy almost everyone.

I think the iPad 2 will definitely have video chat. It would be nice if the original iPads could be reworked (great idea you put out) to have video but I don't think I would want a new iPad to need a plug in module just for a camera -- the best thing about them is the ease of use and portability. But if I had an older one I would love your idea.

I love my 3gs iPhone but I didn't stand in line overnight to get it, I didn't pay 5x its current cost on eBay three days after intro to snare one and I damn sure didn't attempt to sell it so I could get its newbie big brother. It's ok to love Apple but I don't want to sleep with any of their products. Some people get so giddy about this stuff I wish Triumph the Insult Comic Dog would do a segment on these uber geeks, waiting with breathless anticipation for some electronic bongo bunny.

Did you have some kind of point, or did you just feel like sharing random information about yourself?

Are you hormonal or coked up, or do you always attack without provocation? No one cares that you don't care.

No front/back cameras and still not a phone. Not really a 2.0, more like 1.1. Yawn.

I like that it doesn't have a camera, it means that I can use it in places where I'm not allowed to take my smartphone. In some of the plants that I work, it can take weeks to get cellphone clearance, but my iPad can usually get cleared in a day.

I've had my IPad since May and I use it regularly. I traveled to Europe with it rather than take my laptop and it was perfect for traveling. The new apps that keep coming out are great.

Of course I wish it had a USB port or ran Flash, but I have adjusted to dealing without these. The only thing I really don't like is the glare factor outside. Other than that, I love it.
