Fiddler Eileen Ivers gives her final gala performance at the Walt Disney Concert Hall today. She'll be performing Irish Wren Day songs, re-imagined Christmas Carols, and classics like Bach. For Christmas movie screenings, check out It's A Wonderful Life at the Egyptian Theatre or the double feature Elf and Bad Santa at the Aero Theatre. Finally, single, professional Anjewlenos are invited to tonight's "Let My People Go" singles mixer at The Colony.

Though it never won an Oscar and was initially considered a flop thanks to high production costs, mixed reviews, and low ticket sales, It's a Wonderful Life has become a classic of mid-century American cinema. Frank Capra's twist on Dickens' A Christmas Carol is the gold standard for heart-tugging holiday movies — for every corny scene, there's a hilarious or poignant moment (most, courtesy of the incomparable Jimmy Stewart). When the future Mr. and Mrs. George Bailey accidentally dance their way into the local high-school swimming pool, it gets you every time. - Audrey Mast at Flavorpill
