Bristol Palin Buys House In Maricopa, Arizona For $172,000 Cash

Bristol Palin

MARICOPA, Ariz. — Bristol Palin has bought a five-bedroom home in Pinal County south of Phoenix.

Paperwork shows the recent "Dancing With the Stars" diva and daughter of Sarah Palin is the sole purchaser of the house in the town of Maricopa. She bought it for $172,000 from a North Dakota couple.

It's not clear if Bristol Palin will be a seasonal visitor or permanent resident at the home, in a development called Cobblestone Farms.

According to real estate websites, the residence is a two-level, brown stucco house with a tile roof, a landscaped front and back yard, and access to a community pool.

The Arizona Republic reports the 3,900-square-foot home was built in 2006 and was bought for a little under $330,000 at the time. It has 2 1/2 baths and a three-car garage.

Bristol Palin, 20, closed on the home in early December, buying it from Michael and Cynthia Smith, according to paperwork filed with the Pinal County Recorder's Office.

"I'm not sure why she wanted to buy that home, but we are real happy for her," Michael Smith told The Republic.

Bristol Palin came to the forefront during her mother's 2008 vice presidential run when the Palin family announced that the then-17-year-old was pregnant.

Following the birth of her son, Bristol Palin spoke out as a teen pregnancy prevention advocate.

Bristol must be very brilliant. She dropped out of high school in her junior year, then didn't attend school during her senior year (heavy with child), then got a prestigious job as MANAGER of a medical office.
Yes, she is definitely college material!

The first actor in this story is the house itself. Originally bought for $329,560, foreclosed on, then sold for $137,200, it represents the destruction of $192,360 in someone's wealth - more than Bristol paid for the house even after improvements. The ongoing damage foreclosures continue to wreak on the economy is another story, as is the growing number of reports of gross negligence, incompetence, and illegal actions within the mortgage industry. Every foreclosure and other distressed sale represents a lessening of consumer wealth even as it shows signs of short-term recovery.

The other part of the story is the purchase of a house that size, in a community like that, for cash, by a high school graduate and unwed mother with no regular job.

This is not a story of meritocracy, of hard work and sacrifice being rewarded. It is a story of privilege. A story of entitlement. A story of rewards far exceeding merit. Keep buying those lottery tickets, you might be next.

It is a tale of two standards. This deal flies in the face of everything that conservatives claim America stands for. It is an insult to hard working Americans who have struggled, sacrificed, and lost in this recession.

It would be rather cynical to name her Bristolina Palinov, but the Marie Antoinette snark has been overused already.

If she were not the daughter of a celebrity, she would be a welfare mom.

You hit the nail on the head. This illustrates why I detest everything the GOP stands for. Give to the rich--and screw the poor! Remind me again, what hard work and sacrifice went into the purchase if this home? Oh, that's right- it was delivered on a silver platter! Nothing to brag about Bristol! There was a time in this country where hard work a sacrifice was rewarded. Now all you need do is talk shit-and hope it sticks!! Then you’re well on your way with a book deal, talk show, etc, etc.

This is a great lesson to all the young people in America. All you have to do to be set for life is get pregnant at 16 and do some reality shows. I am not sure how much Bristol Palin is worth, but this does seem a little bit irresponsible to spend so much on a huge house. Tuition is going to be expensive and (let's hope) the Palin family fame is not going to last forever.

44254 West Sedona Trail, Maricopa AZ 85139 I live here in Maricopa, Az.and I bought a house here in early spring but I'm a retiree and a bargain hunter. Bristol could have gotten a much better home with a pool for this kind of money if she was looking to invest in real estate. It's not a gated community and the homes are very close so she's not coming here to live. I know someone in Tucson that is a hunter and a guide and there is some good hunting here so the family could use this house as their headquarters if they took their reality show on the road.

So for you some teenage girl that lives in Alaska buying a house as a private citizen is at the same level of scrutiny than the president of the United Stated taking policy positions that will affect the entire country.
That’s cute, now go back to the kids table and finish your soup.

Is that how much they paid her for DWTS? Outside of that gig, I wasn't even aware she had a JOB or could afford to buy a house.

Because she runs to People Mag with an "exclusive" every time she needs money.

She brought is on herself and deserves every bit of criticism she receives.

Not a fan of Free Speech all of a sudden? LOL
