Getting Into the Spirit With Holiday Lights In Brooklyn (PHOTOS)

Merry XMas from New York's most decorated borough, Brooklyn (sorry, Staten Island). These ornate holiday lights are out in full blast, and New Yorkers are making the trek to check them out. Most New Yorkers don't have a lawn to fill with neon Snowmen, and we're pretty sure the guys at the bodega would be upset if our dozen plastic reindeer blocked the entrance to their store (how else are teenagers supposed to buy Four Loko?).

Whether viewing by bus, by car, or by blog, these unique decorations can't help but get you into the spirit of the season.

Check out the decorations here:

NEW YORK, NY - DECEMBER 22: Christmas lights are viewed on a fish store on December 22, 2010 in the Brooklyn borough of New York City. Brooklyn, one of the most culturally and ethnically diverse areas in the nation, hosts numerous neighborhoods where Christmas tree lights have become a significant attraction with hundreds of cars and pedestrians arriving daily to view the homes. This article may be right, but every real New Yorker knows that the best (i really mean gaudiest) house is the Bronx on Pelham Parkway.

I grew up in Bayridge Brooklyn, and it's true...it was one block after another that was "lit up". It was always a special time for me

Hmm, not many fish stores offer tune ups, brakes and oil changes... maybe that's the real story here, kids!

I can remember when I was a kid back in the 60's and my mother had convinced my father to put up Christmas lights much or less like the photos here. Well....when we got our light bill the next month that was the last time our home saw Christmas lights.

I can only imagine what the light bill must be these days.

There is a very simple way to do this without running up the electric bill, use the new LED lights.

why is the caption for the fish store used for every photo?

is it really that hard to do your homework for a feature like this and tell us what neighborhoods the pics were shot in?

Throw up a thousand lights- doesn't matter how. Then get a bunch of plastic santas, a few Jesus, Mary & Joseph figures and some carolers and reindeer at Costco or wherever, and as much junk as you can find, put them on your front lawn and call your neighbors and relatives to come look at how amazing it all is. It could be 1955 or 2010- Some things in life never change.

one of the news channels today had a panaromic shot of one of these set-ups and it was so awesome cause there were a billion different lighted characters and in the center it was a nativity scene but the 3 wise men tending to Jesus were like 6 foot tall Alvin Simon and Theodore chipmunks. It was so punk-rock.
