Chicago Airports Affected By East Coast Storm

East Coast Blizzard Leads To Canceled Flights In Chicago

The blizzard that pummeled the East Coast this weekend has affected national and international travel--and Chicago is no exception.

More than 150 flights have been canceled at Midway and O'Hare airports due to the East Coast weather, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. The three day storm has dumped more than 20 inches of snow onto several cities, and the region is also dealing with wind gusts of more than 35 miles per hour.

While those stranded in Chicago are not thrilled, travelers at New York's airports are in an even more unsavory situation.

At New York's Kennedy, LaGuardia and Newark Liberty airports, hundreds of passengers were cold, hungry and exhausted. A Kennedy airport McDonald's even ran out of food.

The Chicago Department of Aviation advises travelers to check the status of their flights before leaving home, and to arrive at least two hours before their departures.
