Israelis Hit The Beach As Tel Aviv Enjoys Warm Unseasonable Weather (PHOTOS)

First Posted: 12/28/10 05:36 PM ET   Updated: 05/25/11 07:20 PM ET

As most of Europe and much of North America's eastern regions continue to dig themselves out of immense snowfalls, Israelis are enjoying a much different set of weather conditions during the last few days of 2010.

Unusually warm temperatures reaching 26 degrees Celcius (79 degrees Fahrenheit) had many residents in and around Tel Aviv reaching for their swimsuits before heading to nearby beach resorts.

While the hot, sunny weather may look serene, sources at Israel's Meteorological Service say that drought has been plaguing the nation and the Palestinian territories for some time, with overall rainfall over the past five years coming in at below-average levels.

Take a look at enviable photos of Israelis hitting the beach in December here:

Amazing photos, you would never tell by looking at them, there is Gaza Concentration Camp and the Apartheid West Bank right next door.

the wall was built so people of Is-el, jish Xtin, Arab and tourists can enjoy the beach without the usual interference from the followers of Religion of Pieces.

Petitions by Change.org|Get Widget|Start a Petition Gaza is an immense concentration camp -- 1.5 million people squeezed into 140 square miles hemmed in on all sides by 25-foot-high walls separated by a vast expanse of bulldozed earth. The 2005 "pull-out" left Gaza still controlled by Israel from air and sea, its entries and exits prisonlike mazes electronically controlled and under constant surveillance. Bombing it, assaulting it with tanks and Uzis, is like shooting animals in a pen. The claptrap about "pinpoint" accuracy and "avoiding civilians" is a lie so flagrant, so transparent, that any child -- certainly any Gaza child -- could grasp it."

"Israeli Apartheid Week organizers across the globe are gearing up for the 7th year of actions in support of Palestinian Civil Society's call for Boycotts, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS). Last year’s IAW was incredibly successful with over 55 cities worldwide joining the week to end Israel’s apartheid."

Looks exactly like Myrtle Beach South Carolina - big high rises built almost in the water, no room for people.

Actually, the beach at Tel Aviv is beautiful, wide and very accessible.

While Israeli families enjoy the beach, Palestinian fishermen are shot at for approaching the water.

Seems busy. Maybe visit a segregated Israeli beach instead. They seem less popular for some reason.

Every beach in North Carolina looks better than that mess.
Looks like they really ruined a great natural resource.

Those photos are more of a warning - don't come here unless you want to be crowded and unhappy.

Israel's beaches are beautiful, especially Nitzanem. The more remote ones are always better...but that is true for everywhere. As for Tel Aviv, it is quite amazing. A few months ago I saw the Jewish people celebrating Rosh Hashana and the Muslim people celebrating Ramadan...all on the same beach pictured.
02:45 PM on 01/02/2011
better than dubai's beaches, at times among the most polluted in the world due to their shameful lack of environmental stewardship. I've literally seen human waste floating near a resort there.
12:21 PM on 12/29/2010
Thank god they can go to the beach. Last time a Palestinian family went to a Gaza beach they were blown to bits by an Israeli missile.
12:42 PM on 12/29/2010
the jews living in gaza left their beach paradise to leave gazans alone. if gaza hadnt insisted on sending a rocket a day to israel we would have left you to your own beach.

it's extremely unusual weather for israel, which usually follows Mediterranean weather.

I was there last year around this time and there were also a couple of beach days.
