Reese Witherspoon is headed back down the aisle, and her ex-husband has nothing but good (if brief) things to say about it.
With Witherspoon announcing on Tuesday that she was engaged to marry Hollywood agent Jim Toth, Ryan Phillippe, whom she divorced in 2008 after seven years of marriage, issued a statement to the New York Daily News:
"I'm very happy for both Reese and Jim," he said. "I wish nothing but the best for the mother of my children."
In May, Phillippe spoke to Ellen Degeneres and said the co-parenting of their children, Ava, 11 and Deacon, 7, was going well.
"Things are great," he told the host. "It is so important as divorced parents to keep that connection. It makes the kids feel better that the parents are interacting. ... We go to all the school events together, and we're there for each other."
However, in April, he said he was tired of the media and public backlash he was receiving over the divorce.
"I've been dumped on in the press for relationship stuff since Reese and I divorced," he said. "I'm tired of getting shit on. I don't feel like I deserve it. Things happen! How many people have you broken up with over your life?"
