More Than 1,000 Dead Birds Fall From Sky In Arkansas

BEEBE, Ark. — Environmental service workers finished picking up the carcasses on Sunday of about 2,000 red-winged blackbirds that fell dead from the sky in a central Arkansas town.

Mike Robertson, the mayor in Beebe, told The Associated Press the last dead bird was removed about 11 a.m. Sunday in the town about 40 miles northeast of Little Rock. He said 12 to 15 workers, hired by the city to do the cleanup, wore environmental-protection suits for the task.

The birds had fallen Friday night over a 1-mile area of Beebe, and an aerial survey indicated that no other dead birds were found outside of that area. The workers from U.S. Environmental Services started the cleanup Saturday.

Robertson said the workers wore the suits as a matter of routine and not out of fear that the birds might be contaminated. He said speculation on the cause is not focusing on disease or poisoning.

Several hundred thousand red-winged blackbirds have used a wooded area in the town as a roost for the past several years, he said. Robertson and other officials went to the roost area over the weekend and found no dead birds on the ground.

"That pretty much rules out an illness" or poisoning, the mayor said.

Arkansas Game and Fish Commission ornithologist Karen Rowe said Saturday the birds showed physical trauma, and speculated that "the flock could have been hit by lightning or high-altitude hail."

The commission said that New Year's Eve revelers shooting off fireworks could have startled the birds from their roost and caused them to die from stress.

Robby King, a wildlife officer for the commission, collected about 65 dead birds, which will be sent for testing to the state Livestock and Poultry Commission lab and the National Wildlife Health Center lab in Madison, Wis.

Rowe said similar events have occurred elsewhere and that test results "usually were inconclusive." She said she doubted the birds were poisoned.

A little behind the times, but here's some perspective on the bird numbers, for anyone that passes by here:

Pennsylvania has allowed waste water from fracking to be disposed of into waterways, it is not a surprise that wildlife is suffering terribly from the greed of the gas companies. The only conspiracy here is the one between the gas & oil companies and a corrupt government. Believe it or not we humans are part of the ecosystem, we are being poisoned also. Only in America.

I had just posted: "Fireworks. Riiiiight. Because we've never had fireworks and birds flying at the same time. There is no coinkidink with birds dying and fish dying cause birds can't fly far from where they drank water that those fish swim in. There is probably no one substance that would make the bird's blood coagulate as if they were concussed. What killed the fishies? And wonder what will happen to the animals eating those fish? Buh bye racoons, otters and herons."

And HP puts this up: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/01/05/chupacabra-mystery-solved_n_804793.html

Sock De Jour 50 minutes ago (9:39 AM) says "Ethylene glycol. Chemical used in gas fracking, and was in the Corexit sprayed and pumped into the gulf. It's now in the rivers and streams across America from fracking, and traveling through the ocean currents from the BP spill."

Can you say Ice Nine? Kurt Vonnegut's end of earth as we know it Cat's Cradle.

Interested article on my blog that was published that this might have something to do with the government involvement rather than sound...

Anderson Cooper has no idea what is going on or what to talk about either, so he decided to have Kirk Cameron explain the bird deaths and the apocalypse, expert that he is.

Its time to come up with more sophisticated celebrating than fireworks...bad for the environment on many levels...Of course it is horrible for wildlife and even domestic animals...do we really need this noisy, smoky entertainment?

A troubling harbinger of the end of days? Let's hope not.

If they died from"physical trauma", then why did the next guy say they could have "died from stress". Doesn't mesh.

Last night 50 to 100 birds suddenly died in Sweden with no explanation. I wrote the comments below several days ago and I stand by them.

“They migrated to a different dimension.

1) Everything is energy and the energy in the universe is constant. Energy is never lost or gained - only transformed. So death is really a transformation for humans as well as wildlife and even bacteria.

2) Quantum physicists have shown that mathematically there are 11 dimensions according to their M-String Theory.

Tibetan Buddhism explains the after death experience as a passage through "bardos". Bardos are analogous to what modern scientists refer to as dimensions. Some form of consciousness/energy leaves the body and undergoes some transformation according to the person's karma.

Of course there are people who adhere to the materialist view and will refuse to even consider non-material possibilities.

Animals are known to have senses that humans do not - extrasensory - and seem to be in tune with a metaphysical reality invisible to humans. Mass migrations are still a mystery and many species act in unison without any discernable mode of communication.

I believe these birds ( as well as other species ) are ascending to a higher realm/dimension because humans have poisoned Gaia.

Dolphins, especially, fascinate researchers."

When the tsunami hit Sri Lanka in 2004 animals headed for higher ground long before the waves came. Many humans who arrogantly and unthinkingly kill animals for sport, profit and food might think that animals are lesser beings but in some respects animals appear to have a wisdom that we humans lack. Having said that, I do not completely agree with your theory, as intriguing as it might be.

Most physicists accept that there are either 11 or 26 dimensions that can be mathematically proven.

The beauty of the materialist view is knowing that everything non-material that we have ever posited quickly vanishes when there aren't any humans left to come up with Hegelian or Platonic non-material ideas. A well-grounded view starts with the material as the base, and then moves upwards towards humans creating spirituality and dimensions to explain the world.

A belief they have gone to another dimension is still just Hegelian dialectic veiled in numbers and mathematics. Which is more eloquent and intellectual than saying heaven, but the idea is the same.
