Montel Williams Marijuana Pipe Bust: Talk Show Host, Advocate Cited At Milwaukee Airport

MILWAUKEE — Wisconsin authorities say former talk show host and medical marijuana activist Montel Williams has been cited for possession of drug paraphernalia at General Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee.

The Milwaukee County sheriff's office says the Transportation Security Administration found Williams had a pipe commonly used for marijuana as he passed through a security checkpoint Tuesday.

The sheriff's office says Williams paid the $484 citation and was released to continue his travel.

Williams has said he uses marijuana to relieve chronic pain caused by multiple sclerosis that was diagnosed in 1999. The 54-year-old has said he became an activist pushing for medical marijuana laws after being stopped at a Detroit airport years ago for carrying drug paraphernalia.

Messages left Tuesday for his attorney, Nina Shaw, were not immediately returned.

I had a stroke in July of 2010. I am back to work and doing very well, one of the side affects is I can't sleep at night. The docs prescribed ambien and 2 other sleeping pills. They put me to sleep but at 2AM I am wide awake with my mind spinning.The sleep drugs turn me into a zombie the next day.
only thing that works is weed. 2 hits of weed before bed and I sleep 8 hrs. and never wake up. the next day I am rested and productive.
I guess I will be a criminal in the eyes of my govt. and I don't care.

I was stopped at customs in Los Angeles...with an empty metal marijuana pipe in my luggage. They did not say anything except, come with us....and they showed me they had found the pipe ..because they couldn't figure out what it was....They did absolutely nothing but laugh and return the empty pipe to me. It must be differen t in other places....or maybe just because it was
Montel.....dont you think????

Come on Montel,,,,,,,,,,we all know you smoke weed for your M.S.,,,,,,,go to California and get a legal scrip,,,,,,,then you can fight it in the courts, we need a good fight about the legality of state to state prescriptions...........Do we need a doctor in every state we go visit to OK the prescription our doctors have given us for our medical problems at home......????????? I think not,,,,,,,,your in the spotlight,,,,,,,FIGHT THIS!!!!!!!!!

,Why would a bong be illegal anyway? So what if it is commonly used to smoke Jamaican tea? That doesn't mean that's what the owner is doing, or intends to do with it. There's a lot of thing I can think of that one might do with a bong.... You can use it as a jellybean dispenser, kitty treat trolley, water vaporizer, legal tobacco pipe, legal tomacco pipe (tobacco-tomato combination), it can serve as a piggy bank, and also, you can put your weed in it.

He's got MS! OMG! Its called MEDICATION. I know what it is like, MMJ has given me my life back and has enabled me to once again function somewhat normally. This is why it just needs to be legalized. I seriously doubt anyone would have been arrested with a legal prescription of Vicodin, would they? And that is a much more harmful drug.

Other than it wasn't a real smart thing to do if you know you're going through a security check point, I think they need to focus more on guns & explosives. I've never heard of a pot pipe blowing up a plane.
