Bill Daley Named White House Chief Of Staff

William Daley Obama Chief Of Staff

WASHINGTON -- Bill Daley confirmed to the Huffington Post that he is becoming the next White House chief of staff. Asked at 11:55 am if he was taking the job he answered "yes."

Daley's entry into the White House marks President Obama's transition from political outsider to insider, and from South Side Chicago liberal to Downtown Chicago (and Washington) survivalist powerbroker intent on winning another term as president, even if that means alienating the left wing of his party.

Obama has chosen Daley, a former commerce secretary, to replace interim chief of staff Pete Rouse.

Rouse, who did not want to stay in the job and recommended Daley for it, will remain at the White House in a senior position as counselor to Obama.

Daley comes from a dynastic Chicago family of politics. He is currently serving as a banking executive for JP Morgan Chase.

Just another appointment by Obama that represents the corporate oligarchy that runs the nation. We might as well elect the next president to be the CEO of JP Morgan Chase or Goldman Sachs.

William Daley has had a long political democratic career - to label him a wall street exec is not only unfair and misleading it begs a fox comparison.

Thank goodness President Obama is bringing in Clinton's advisors. Obama's team doesn't have a clue on how to turnaround the economy and get 25 million Americans back to work. Millions of Americans have lost their homes, farms and small businesses. And almost all of us have lost our life savings and the one-third the value of our homes.

I am going to purchase Wall Street, and make Washington function in a similar manner. Wall Street already owns Washington!

Great, another capitalist who will support the banks and big businesses at the expense of the American people.

WASHINGTON—President Barack Obama put into overdrive Thursday his fledgling efforts to call a truce with American business.

In the latest in a series of conciliatory moves, Mr. Obama appointed Bill Daley, a Chicago political operative turned financier, as his chief of staff, and brooked a simmering trade dispute with Mexico.

Hooray!

Why does Obama need a truce with American business? Wall St is soaring over the levels under business-loving W.
Wall St bonuses are at record highs.
Corporations are earning  record profits.
Wall St banks are sitting on two trillion dollars loaned to them at 0% interest by the FED, because they'd rather draw a little interest in government bonds than invest in America.
So this idea that Obama is anti-high finance is an outright lie, and progressives should call it a lie.

Obama won't call it a lie, he just keeps on appointing Wall St veterans. Obama is a Wall St kind of president. Deal with it.

I spoke with a gentleman yesterday that told me he was previously self-employed and owned a pallet business. He told me that his 2 of his biggest customers were manufacturing factories that no longer exist in America.

One moved to Mexico. The other moved to China.

NAFTA caused one to move to Mexico and the normalized trade with China moved the other to China. Obama's choice for chief of staff was Bill Clinton's commerce secretary when Clinton colluded with Republicans and corporatist Democrats in the 90's to enter into these anti-labor, crony trade schemes.

The corporate media is telling us that Obama is posturing for 2112 by defying his liberal base. Rachel referred to this as "punching the hippy."

How does this choice represent anything different than what Rahm Emmanuel brought when it comes to corporatism?

The pallet guy whose business was hurt when his clients skipped town was no liberal. He was a good person and a hard working American but in no way shape or form a liberal.

We are suppose to think that going from Emmanuel to Daly represents a shift from the left to center. Really?

We can talk about left and rightness, but the hard fact is that this crony trade scheme hurts liberals and conservatives alike.

This is not campaign posturing. This is Obama unfortunately.

I like Bill Daley and think he is a great choice! His brother and dad have run Chicago for over 41 years and their love of Chicago has made it into a fabulous city! I live here and love it. With that said, I am an Independent and have been for years.

Bill Daley is an intelligent, straight talking guy. I would say he is more of an Independent, although his family is strictly Democratic. Bill reaches over to both sides of the isle, can talk straight with Wall Street and the left. I think Obama needs someone who can clearly define the visions of both sides of the coin...and in my opinion, Bill Daley certainly can.

Very simply, the W administration ended with an absolutely crushing demonstration of the failure of unregulated free market capitalism.
Obama ran on a platform of real change. Change the culture of DC, etc.
People who believe in real change do not want to see more Wall St guys, Ghicago insiders, guys who helped Clinton push for job-killer NAFTA , etc.
I don't care if they're respectful, and seem nice. They are pushing for the same old policies that got us here!

Normally I would be upset about this, but I have heard both Howard Dean and Jim Clyburn say it is a good choice, they both like him very much (and I really respect their opinions) so I am willing to at least give Daley a chance.

Now is the time for our good President to come forward and explain to the people who elected him how picking this man who opposed all of his own agenda is supposed to help him?

Please explain, Please?

I do not care about what this eel says any longer. I saw him for what he really is.

He bvrned the bridge for anyone who woukld possibly be the person we saw in Obama, but would not get a chance any longer due to this guy's behavior.
